hello lovelies <33 I think it's about time i share my plethora of tips for transmascs. I'll be covering topics like clothing, voicetraining, mannerisms, and more. remember that just because you are trans does not mean you have to pass <3 all of the things i will say are entirely optional, but if you're a transmasc who is looking to pass then this may be worth reading :) anyways lets get to it lol [ CLOTHING ] - baggy clothing is fine, but if you want to size up then i would recommend only going up one size - try getting stuff from the men's section if you can. i know it's kinda obvious but it really does help - wear your pants at the hips, not the waist. this helps straighten out your figure a bit - t-shirts with large stitched logos on the front can help distract the eye from curves. floral print shirts help with this too - wear darker or more earthy colours (no you dont have to wear only black, colours such as dark browns, greens, and blues work as well) - if you have a larger chest, layers on top can help- don't go overboard and wear like, 5 jackets, usually a larger tee and some sort of hoodie/zip up will work just fine. - men tend to have longer torsos, so tucking in your shirt can help if you're wearing a shirt that extends past your pants - try avoiding v-necks, and in general make sure any shirts you wear have a neck that doesn't hang low. [ HYGIENE/HAIR/FACE STUFF ] - use men's hygiene products when you can (ie. men's deodorant, hair products, body wash, etc.) and if questioned, just say they work better. personally i haven't been questioned about the stick of men's deodorant in my room but it does work a lot better for me than women's deodorant so.. ALSO DONT USE AXE ITS STINKY TOO STRONG USE OLD SPICE INSTEAD - this tip is more for the pre-t trans guys but could be applied to anyone. facial hair can be a big part of passing sometimes. if you're not on t, you can grow a non-suspicious amount of facial hair by slathering on some coconut oil where you want it to grow. this method doesn't work for everyone and since it's oil it can cause you to break out, but usually i slather some on my eyebrows, along my jawline, and above my upper lip. again, coconut oil will not have super prominent results for facial hair growth but it does cause some growth for some people. another option for growing facial hair is minoxidil, which is more expensive but more effective. if you want to take the minoxidil route i would recommend rogaine brand, ive heard the most good things about it - if you want to get a masculine haircut, trimmed short at the sides and kept long(ish) everywhere else is pretty much the basic men's haircut. try not to get a super dramatic fade or anything, however, because it could end up making your face look more feminine. also try avoiding getting your hair dyed in bright, crazy colours. men usually have slightly darker hair so if you have light coloured hair i would recommend dying it a shade darker if you can. over all though, remember, it's /your/ hair, so do what makes you happy :) [ MANNERISMS ] - don't be super outrageous with hand gestures. men tend to be more direct with hand gestures, doing simple things like motioning over the shoulder or bringing their hands down pointedly. you don't have to stop using hand gestures but *sparkles* unjazzifying *sparkles* them can potentially help. - when walking, don't slouch too much. stand tall with your shoulders slightly back to take on a more confident look. take longer strides as well. - another tip for walking is to not sway your hips too much. to keep this from happening, try spreading your feet apart slightly when you walk instead of putting one foot in front of the other. - take up space. you are a MAN. don't cross your legs over each other when you sit. take up some more space with your arms and legs bro *thumbs up* [ VOICETRAINING ] - while i have been voicetraining for 2 years, i am not a vocal coach, but voicetraining can help out a lot with voice dysphoria. i especially recommend Zoey Alexandria. she does actual voice lessons but she does have a few videos on youtube about voice masculinization, go check her out :) [ MISCELLANEOUS ] - if someone misgenders you, instead of correcting them by saying "i identify as a guy" or "my pronouns are [insert pronouns here]," just say "i'm a guy." it will raise less suspicion - wear rings buddy, they can make your hands look more masculine - exercise more. shoulder workouts are great for broadening the shoulders to give a more masculine build. chewing gum can also help you lose some baby fat on your face to define the jaw more. make sure you don't /only/ workout your shoulders and jaw though, make srue you are exercising your whole body. exercising is generally just a good healthy habit anyways so yeah anyways that's my absolute dump of transmasc tips, i might have forgotten a few things but i think thats mostly it. have a nice day <33
