I woke up with a yawn as I stretched out my arms above my head and rubbed my eyes. It was Sunday. I got out of bed slowly and walked into the bathroom, washing my face and then brushing my teeth. As soon as I was finished I went into my closet to find my shirt. I held my breath as I pulled open my wardrobe. I looked at the shirt. It. Was. Blue. Navy blue... I'm an odiness. Beep, beep beep! I woke up. I was scared, and then I snapped back to reality. That was just a dream... right? But it felt like it was real.... Or maybe it was a vision? It doesn't matter. All I can say is that it left me feeling unsettled. What does that mean? I shook it off and went to the dresser. I looked at the shirt. No different, wait it kind of looks like a little cooler white. Maybe from, cream white, to platinum? I don't know. It's weird, the color keeps changing ever so slightly. I just put on a black sweater with the school's emblem. then I put on pants and converse. I quickly brushed my hair and applied a bit of mascara before leaving the room. After, I got ready for the day. When I got to the cafeteria, everyone was already seated. Mariana and Tracy sat and ate breakfast together. Karen sat across from them sitting next to some of her friends whispering and pointing at different students. Then they saw me. "Hey human! Hey come sit with us!" she yelled. Her friends snickered and Mariana ruled her eyes. "Yeah, maybe if you sit with us, you might get your house," the girl to the left of Karen yelled. They all cried laughing. "Please stop teasing her," Mariana said. Karen stopped laughing as well. She glared at me, then turned around and talked to another girl who was also smiling. I sat down with Fenti and ate my food. I never realized how hungry I was until now. We spent a few hours talking about random things. I learned a lot about Fenti, including about the other girls, some of whom are pretty. They're not my type but still attractive and they're nice. I also learned that some of those girls aren't very nice. Mainly Karen's girls. Their group was deemed the It Demons. The It Demons has been causing trouble since I've known about this school. But Fenti told me the rumors started long ago and the It Demons. They're mischievous and rude. They do seem to know how to cause problems. Fenti always told me that Karen always wanted Mariana to be in the clique. Her older sister was friends with her and they were close friends. Karen would tell her everything. She revealed that she was jealous of her sister. How she was more popular, and prettier, and everyone liked her more. So she dedicated almost her whole life to trying and get Mariana to like her more and be a part of the It Demons. But her attempts are still failing. After this story, it was time for us to head to class. Karen and her friends continued glaring at me as they followed us. When we arrived at the class, I took a seat in my regular spot in the back. I took out my notebook and a pen. I opened the notebook and began to write down the notes I made during my biology lesson yesterday. Then Mr. Saito entered his class, and I stopped writing to listen to him lecture. He talked about the history of our country as an entire hour passed by while listening to his dull voice drone on. Finally, the bell rang and he dismissed us. We gathered around the classroom and waited for Ms. Henshaw. It took her several minutes to show up. She was wearing a black skirt and a white blouse. She wore a pair of black heels. She smiled at us and greeted us. "Good morning class. Today we will be doing a project on the quadratic formula. I hope you all enjoy it." She said. Math was my favorite class. It didn't change whether or not you were a demon or just a human. I loved learning. My parents thought so as well. So we had fun when we had classes together because we could spend more time with each other. I took out my textbook and pencil case, opened my binder, and began to take notes on the first problem. About 5 minutes later, Ms. Henshaw asked us what the answer was to a problem. Karen looked confident in her answer. "Yes, Karen?" Ms. Henshaw asked. "The answer is 5.43," Karen responded. She sounded one hundred percent sure this was correct. "Incorrect. Close, but no." Ms. Henshaw said, "Would anyone else like to answer?" Stach raised her hand. Her black nails shined in the sunlight. "3.296. I think so," she responded quietly. Ms. Henshaw nodded, indicating her answer was correct. We then learned more in math until the bell rang and we left for our electives.
My elective was for herbology. Flowers and that kind of stuff always delighted me. I saw Mariana walk into a art club and Karen sneers at me when she walked into her gym glass. I then walked to where the greenhouse was. There was a table set up with the plants. There were flowers on the table but they were different kinds. Some of the flowers looked like they weren't there and others looked like they were fake. Some were dark blue or purple, others green, and others orange. And some weren't even on this earth but were alive. This was why I liked plants. They were so interesting and full of wonder and mystery. I then walked further inside the greenhouse and I found my plant. It looked like a flower with a heart-shaped petal and a stem and roots of a light blue color. Its leaves were blue but were covered in tiny dots of pink or red or orange which looked like diamonds. There were also some small buds on its stem which I had to admit were adorable. I picked it up. It was soft and light. I read an instruction booklet for this plant. It had a name that I couldn't pronounce. It read, 'Pour a small amount of water. If the correct amount is poured in then the plant will glow and grow.' I was excited. A few other students watered their plants and succulents. I found my watering can and poured the small amount I was encouraged to pour on the plant. It lit up and seemed to glow brighter than I'd expected it to. I looked at it carefully before turning away and walking toward the table where I had my book on flowers. My plant gave off such a lovely glow! I then noticed that the rest of the students were looking at their plants too. I decided to go over there. "Can I see yours?" I asked a boy with blond hair and bright blue eyes. His smile was kind. His eyes looked warm and gentle. He looked at me strangely. "Why?" "Well I'm interested in how it works," I told him, smiling. He hesitated but eventually handed me the plant. "It's called a Dahlia. It is supposed to give the appearance of a person's true feelings or love," he answered as I observed the flower. "Oh, it's beautiful," I smiled, handing it back. I noticed that it had been placed on the table and I smiled at it. He watched me, curious. I turned around to face him. He looked at me curiously as well. "I have a question," I said. I waited for his response. He nodded, gesturing for me to ask my question. "How did you make that flower shine? I know Dahlias don't usually glow, but this one seemed like it." I looked at his reaction. He grinned. "Dahlias are known for their beauty. They are one of nature's strongest flowers," He replied. We continued to talk about the plants until it was time to leave. It was around noon, and it was time for lunch. I walked over to the cafeteria and I met Fenti chatting with another girl. The girl looked like a vampire. I think she was a vampire. She had a yellow shirt and black pants. She saw me and waved at me. "Hey! Are you Ralina? Fenti was talking about you," She said. "Yeah, I am. What's your name?" I asked. "Venus. My friends call me Venu," She told me. "Alright, Venu." We chatted for a while longer and ate our lunch and eventually, the three of us went to the courtyard. There was a fountain in the middle of the garden. We decided to go sit under the shade. Our table was close to the fountain, near the edge. I put my books and notebook on it and looked outside at people walking around the campus. I read my book on herbology. It was quiet, besides the sound of the fountain splashing and some sirens swishing their hands in the water, giving off a beautiful glow. Suddenly the door opened and Fenti, Venu, and I looked up at who walked into the room. "Hello there," Mariana smiled brightly when she said it. She was holding a big stack of small cards. "Hi, Uhm... My birthday is soon, I'm having a party. Wanna come?" She said, a little nervously. I don't know why she was nervous. She is the most popular girl in school. Everyone likes her. "Sure I'll go!" I smiled. She handed me a card to me with information about the party. It was a pool party, on Sunday, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It was a Friday. It was at the Thoram's mansion. Her family's house. "Awesome! And you guys?" She asked Venue and Fenti. They nodded and she handed them a card. I was so excited. The queen of Valtiel Academy was inviting me to a party!
