Gio lived a fairly peaceful life with her father and sister when she was younger. Gio’s father would call them “Reina Gianna” or Queen Gianna, because, quite honestly, they were a bossy little kid. Gio was around ten when they started locking himself up in his room out of pure confusion. Why didn’t they like that nickname anymore? Some friends in school called them Gia sometimes. Xe liked that a little better. But Gia was such a feminine name. They thought for awhile. Gio was eleven when she came out to her family. Even though they weren’t exactly sure what they were coming out as. Gio still doesn’t know. He uses any and all pronouns freely and confidently. Gio was twelve when she met Charlie. He didn’t speak very good Spanish, and she didn’t speak very good English, so, seeing that they were in Mexico, she helped him learn. Once Charlie became good at Spanish, he helped Gio with his English. They were outcasts together, a tiny kid with white curly hair who spoke oddly, and a hyperactive kid who no one knew the gender of. Gio was thirteen when Charlie’s pants fell off. It’s actually weirder than what you’d imagine. They were both running from something. Gio didn’t know what from, but Charlie did seem to know. The end of his trousers got caught in a fence, and he kept running without them. With white goat legs. Ava, Gio, and Charlie ran and ran until they came across a strange camp. Gio nearly passed out when Charlie explained what the camp was. Gio was fourteen when he went on his first quest. They went to the domain of Hecate herself with a few friends. Ezra, Parker, Jess, Matti, and Ava. Only four of the six returned. Well, technically three and three quarters. Jess had lost her arm, Parker had been killed by twin children of Hecate, and Ava taken. Gio was in a dark place for a long time after that. Gio was fifteen when xe met Check. She sat alone in the woods, admiring the blades Ava had given her before she was taken. They suddenly noticed that her eye wasn’t the only one the blades had caught. A girl nearby was staring with curious eyes. Gio smirked, tilting her head to the side and getting the girl’s attention. “What’cha lookin’ at?” But dang this girl’s blush was cuter than Gio thought it was going to be.
