In truth, she had wanted to give up for a long time, but now was the first time she had acknowledged it. She had been here for 11 years, ever since she was 7 - alone in the dark, alien green lights as her only illumination in the black of the Fear Containment. She had not heard another human voice in 3 years. Not since she had tried to escape, killing three Scientists in a hopeless rampage. After that, Dr. Lucy ordered that none should go near her cell. She hadn't even tried to escape since. Violet had heard that the cells on the two floors below her had bars across one wall, and windows that allowed the Experiments to see outside. The Fear Containments had no such things. They were nothing but pitch-black boxes, with a small door that was indistinguishable from the rest of the wall. They were lit by a single neon green light that did almost nothing to banish the dark. The only sound was the quiet crackle of electricity, Violet's own ragged breathing, and the occasional ruffle of her dark purple feathers. The only things in the room, except the pointless green light and Violet herself, were the random feathers lying about from her wings and tail. She knew there were at least 4 other Experiments in the Fear Containment, one of whom was a 10 out of 10 on the Danger Scale. Violet herself was unclassified, beyond the scale. She allowed herself the faintest of smiles. Violet had long since stopped dreaming about freedom and had resigned herself to her fate, but that did not change the fact that she was powerful; she just couldn’t do anything with it. The only reason she hadn't been able to escape that day was the sedatives. For the Fear Containment, normal sedatives were not powerful enough to have any effect on them, so the Scientists used hyper-sedatives to calm them down and weaken them. Since they could not inject Violet, and possibly some of the others, they gave it to them in a mist that they filled her cell with. She could sense living beings close by - the other Experiments on her floor. She wondered if their life had been made harder, stricter, by her earlier escape attempt. Not that it mattered to her. The others could rot and die for all she cared. Except one... Memories she thought she had crushed long ago shifted into her mind. Black hair, white skin, dark eyes, bright grin. She shook her head, trying to shake the thoughts from her mind, but once the door to the old part of her memories had been opened, there was no shutting it. He had been her one faithful friend in this horrible, hope-quenching, light-breaking place they called The Lab. ❜ ⁺ ・゚ˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ Welp, there was chapter 3! Let me know what you thought! Do any of you guys remember this character? She's still very near and dear to my heart... ~ Jaime Xx
