Okay first. Qibli and the Rainwings would be a great name for a band. This Au has the same starting point as several of my others: When Thorn enters Cobra's hut and asks what's going on, Qibli takes advantage of his mother's distraction, and bolts. He flees north, out of town and past Burns stronghold. Then he trips in the sand and finds the yawning mouth of a tunnel. He wouldn't go in, except that in the distance he hears roars and realizes that a patrol is coming, and that will mean nothing good for him. He ducks into the tunnel to hide, and, while trying to find the end, tumbles into the Rainforest. The Rainforest, while depressingly damp, is still fairly warm and colorful. and there is SO MUCH FOOD. A couple of Rainwings find a small Sand Dragon, and after a brief debacle involving sleeping darts and a paranoid Dragonet. Qibli finds himself settled in the Rainwing village. After seeing just how destructive their venom can be he manages to find several less lazy dragons to train to fight, and ends up leading the home defense squad for his new tribe. He and Kinkajou become best friends and He see's her as the little sister he never had. Qibli proves to be very good at several Rainwing games, including Hide and Seek, fruit finding, and one unofficial game that Kinkajou calls 'ambush the annoying Dragon' About a year after Qibli settles into his new home he begins to notice Dragons going missing, after Orchid disappears and Mangrove joins the now named 'Forest Fighters' they begin to explore deeper into the Rainforest, looking for the monster. While searching Qibli stumbles across a Nightwing Dragonet who has been living alone in the forest. Moon is nervous and paranoid and refuses to come with Qibli back to the Rainwing village, but she promises to keep an eye out for missing Rainwings and mysterious monsters. Qibli introduces Moon and Kinkajou and the three begin to work together. However one day Kinkajou disappears on her way to see Moon. Qibli freaks out and begins to work himself to exhaustion trying to find his little sister. Moon blames herself and is becoming increasingly suspicious of her Mothers not-answers and carefully guarded thoughts when ever Moon brings up Rainwings. And then... when all hope seemed lost... the Dragonets of Destiny arrive at the Rainforest. Glory is disappointed in her tribe, they really do seem as lazy as everyone says. But after a chance encounter with Mangrove she learns that there is a small group that seems actually competent. She and her friends agree to help and meet the rest of the Forest Fighters, they're quite surprised to find a Sandwing Dragonet, only a little younger than them acting as the leader. Qibli is suspicious of the Dragonets of Destiny, he grew up hearing the prophecy but he never fully believed it, and the way that Moon has described her powers seems way more vague than the prophecy. Plus, Tsunami is a threat, Clay is immune to fire, Glory is the most frightening & dangerous Rainwing he has ever encountered, and Sunny is an unknown (though there's something familiar about her that he can't place). But despite his suspicions they are his best bet for finding Kinkajou. stuff happens and they find the Tunnel to the Sand Queendom. (Qibli never really talked about HOW he got to the Rainforest, at first because he was paranoid and suspicious and later because he worried some dragon might go through without realizing the danger) Qibli worries that Burn may be kidnapping Rainwings for her ominous collection but it would be much to dangerous to just walk into the Stronghold. They decide to try and get Glory captured and things proceed as in cannon where Glory gets nabbed and wakes up to Kinkajou. However this time Kinkajou is more hopeful, fully believing that Qibli and the Forest Fighters will come for her. After Glory takes on the guards and gets her muzzle off, she confirms that Qibli is looking for her. and that is when Qibli, Clay, and Moon show up for the rescue. Mangrove was shadowing Glory and watched as she was Nabbed by Nightwings. Qibli guessed there was a second tunnel and went to get Moon, who had pretty much pieced together what her tribe was doing, and feeling incredibly guilty, was more than willing to help. They found the second Tunnel and Tsunami and Mangrove secured the other end of the Tunnel while Clay Moon and Qibli used Qibli's crazy observations skills and Moon's mind-reading to find Glory and Kinkajou. The rest of the Forest Fighters spread out and get the rest of the captured Rainwings and they all flee to the Rainforest leaving Chaos in their wake. Glory does cannon again and challenges the Queen for Queenship, all five Queens show up to fight and Glory faces them alongside Jambu, Tamarin, Mangrove, and Pineapple. Kinkajou still gets hit with venom jumping out to save a sloth, and Glory and Grandeur discover that they are related.
Now that Glory is Queen and the Rainforest is at peace, all they have to do is figure out why the Nightwings were kidnapping Rainwings in the first place, pick one of the Sandwing Sisters, and end a twenty year long war. What could go wrong? Less than that question usually entails! Sunny thinks that they should try and meet with Blaze. But Glory, busy trying to secure her throne and prepare for whatever the Nightwings are planning needs Clay and Tsunami at her side. So Sunny recruits Starflight, Kinkajou, and Moon to come with her through the first tunnel and to the Ice Queendom. Qibli catches wind of this and along with Jambu follows them to Blaze's Fortress. Qibli, along with Jambu disguised as an Icewing convince Blaze to leave her fortress and meet with some of the Dragonets of Destiny. Deathbringer seeing the strange party of two Nightwings, two Rainwings, and two Sandwings meeting with Blaze decides to tail them. After a rather disappointing meeting with Blaze, Sunny and the others head back south. Qibli has a sneaking suspicion that they're being watched has a quick chat with Moon, who confirms that a 'dangerous but kinda nice' Dragon has been following them. So Qibli offers to sneak everyone into the Scorpion Den, since that's the area that Sunny's egg was found in, and where he grew up and it would just be cool you know? totally not because we are being shadowed by a possibly dangerous enemy that we shouldn't show the magic tunnel to. So they go the Scorpion Den which is.... A LOT nicer than Qibli remembered it. There's a new group in charge, called the Outclaws and they're led by a Dragon named Thorn. Who is apparently offering a LOT of money to anyone who can tell her anything about a Strange Sandwing Dragonet born on the Brightest Night. As well as Dune, who Sunny recognizes from the wanted poster. so the group puts 2 and 2 together and get 4.37 and decide that Dune must have been Sunny's father and Thorn is her mother and has been looking for her. So they march up to the Outclaw camp (or rather, Sunny, Kinkajou, and Jambu bounce up, while Qibli applies all the stealth he learned growing up with his terrible family and then with a tribe of literally invisible Dragons, and Starflight and Moon try their best to stick to the shadows, Starflight because he's nervous and can also feel all the less then friendly looks everyone is giving him, and Moon because she can read in every Dragon's mind that Thorn Does Not like Nightwings and one of those wanted posters was for Morrowseer who is Moon's father.) And cheerfully tell the guards that they think that Sunny might be the Dragonet that Thorn is looking for, and she is, and there's a tearful heartfelt reunion. And Qibli recognizes Thorn from all those years ago and wanders what would have happened if he hadn't run that day. And Moon reads in Thorns mind about Stonemover and blurts out something along the lines of "You fell in love with a Nightwing? I thought you hated them" so Sunny learns of her heritage a little earlier. And Thorn is a bit surprised at the presence of two Nightwings (she's just gonna ignore the Rainwings for now) one of which is apparently a Very Real Mind-reader, which Stonemover had confided in her was apparently not a Real Thing. but they're her wonderful daughters friends so she just rolls with it. (There's something vaguely familiar about this Qibli fellow too, almost like she's seen him before, but he say's that he lives with the Rainwings, sooo...) Sunny and Starflight decide that the best way to end the war is to get all the sisters in one place and let the Sandwing tribe figure it out. They all go back to the Rainforest to tell the others of their plan only to find that the volcano erupted and Glory used the threat of fiery death or venomous pain to make all of the Nightwings (with the exception of Battlewinner and Mastermind who died in the eruption, and Morrowseer who made the tragic error of getting both Tsunami and Mangrove furious at him) swear allegiance to her. Glory is now the Queen of Rain and Night, and with the help of a charming assassin who showed up in the nick of time has been doing a great job of getting the Nightwings settled. (Deathbringer wasn't stupid okay? he saw the weirdos were going to the Scorpion Den and everyone knew that Thorn hated Nightwings so he headed home, and happened upon the most stunning Dragoness ever and he is going to help his shiny new Queen, because she is the best) They all agree on the plan and events proceed like cannon right up to when Burn rips open the box, because Moon is there, reads Blisters menacing mind and screams "TWO! There's TWO SNAKES!" so Burn kills both of them and she and Blister fight while Blaze freaks out. and a certain helpful Scavenger pops up out of nowhere to help Sunny find the Eye of Onyx, Smolder is very grateful that Sunny didn't eat his pet, and Moon is intrigued that she can read a Scavengers mind. part two: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/824222459
