Magg's life was just dreary. There was no other word to describe it, just...d r e a r y. She didn't know what it meant, but whenever Magg thought about her life, that word was the first thing to come up. "Y'know what life?" The pale purple cat said plainly to the ceiling. "I don't want my life to be dreary anymore. It's now going to be...KABONKLE." /Yeah, that's it./ Magg thought smugly, swishing her black-striped tail back and forth. /Kabonkle. Much better than a dreadful adjective like dreary./ The purple and black cat was so happy with herself that she decided to go buy herself some cheese. So she leapt off her blanket-covered bed and headed out the door of her house. It was quite a kabonkle day in Magg's opinion, as there was a strong breeze and dark gray storm clouds gathering in the distance. Lovely. About halfway through her stroll to the cheese shop, she was very rudely bumped into. "Hey! Watch it!" Maggs yelped in a frustrated tone. The cat that had bumped into her was Greg; The stupidest cat in the school who also had the stupidest name. "Oh, sorry, Magg!" Greg said, his brown eyes widening in surprise. "I didn't see you there." "Fine, whatever." Said Magg, rolling her eyes. "Now move, I need to get to the cheese shop." "Oooh, cheese? I love cheese!" Declared Greg. "Can I come with you?" Magg paused for a moment. Go to the cheese shop with the school dork? That was extremely bad for her reputation. But then again...if she was caught saddening the kid who was heavily bullied, someone might see and spread a rumor that she was still hanging out Rollins, the school bully. And Magg didn't want that. "Sure...just don't do anything incredibly stupid." She said after a moment. "Okie dokie!" Greg happily said, fluffing out his white and blue fur. "C'mon Magg, I know a shortcut!" Magg followed Greg, her eyes darting around to see if there were any cats around. Fortunately, there weren't any around at the time, probably because of the oncoming storm. "And...we're here!" Proclaimed Greg from up ahead. The cheese shop looked the way that it always did; the glass windows, a classic wooden oak door, and of coarse, the shelves filled with beautiful blocks of cheese that made Magg's mouth water. "But wait..." The light purple wolf said, realizing something. "That wasn't a shortcut. It took the exact same route that I usually take." "Well, of course it's a shortcut!" Said Greg, chuckling a little. "It's always faster when you have someone with you!" "Yeah..." Magg said, giving him a small smile. "I guess so."
Author's notes: ...That took a long time to write XD But of course, it was worth it! I mostly entered this writing contest because I wanted to practice my storytelling skills! I've been trying to write a novel, but I've been procrastinating it a lot...but this little short story helped! Magg and Greg were characters that I made up when I was nine years old, but I never actually did anything with them. I kinda rediscovered them when I was still trying to figure out what to write when I got accepted for this contest. And then the two little cat beans I created in 4th grade popped up in my mind and I was all like: "Wow! I kinda like these two! They are really 2D characters, but i'll just make them 3D wile i'm writing this!" ...And so yeah, this was really fun to make! I never made ref sheets for these characters, but i'm /pretty/ sure that I described their appearances kinda well lol. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits: Story + characters: @-Swift_fox- Host of competition: @9034576
