Enjoy chapter 4! ❜ ⁺ ･ﾟˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ C r e d i t s ⁀➷ @ii_simplybee for the layout ❜ ⁺ ･ﾟˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ Chapter 4 Nico Endeavour Cell #771 #9 Nico's silky black hair hung in his eyes as he hissed at the two Scientists, shrinking away from their hard, cruel hands. They reached for him, trying to grab at his shirt, but he ripped himself from their grasp. "He's not coming today," said one of them, resignation in his voice. "Might as well give up for now. We can come back tomorrow." “That’s what you always say, and it never works. Just trying to grab him definitely won’t!” The second Scientist’s long, black hair was no longer neat and tidy as it has been when she’d first entered. Her peacock-green eyes glittered with malice. Her hand twitched towards the black metal rod hanging from her belt. Nico’s eyes widened, his heart beating fast with fear. She could fry his brain with that electricity baton! The first Scientist shook his head. “No, don’t! The Dr. said she wants him in good shape!” There was fear in his eyes. All the Experiments feared the Scientists, and all the Scientists feared Dr. Lucy. The second Scientist seemed to share her partners terror of their boss, as they both retreated out of his cell. Nico slumped down, suddenly exhausted. He stared at his pale hands for a long time, before curling them in towards his chest and squeezing his eyes shut, as silent, silver tears leaked from his eyes, like poison dripping from a snake's fangs. Dr. Lucy had ordered him to come to her office two weeks ago, and every day, she sent a few Scientists to come and get him, but he always fought them off. He would never obey her. He didn't care how badly she hurt him. He was beyond pain now. The darkness of the Fear Containment pressed in on him, shutting everything else out. Nico tried to concentrate on something else. His mind turned to his closest friend, as it always did when he was lonely, which was most of the time. He missed her badly, but he hadn’t heard from her in 3 years. She was either still in the Fear Containment somewhere, trapped, or she was dead. Nico hoped it was the former. "I don't know what happened to her, Wednesday." Nico murmured to the other girl who was sitting on the opposite side of a wall of bulletproof glass later in the day. Every day, the Experiments of the Fear Containment were allowed to speak to one other Experiment of the Third Floor, with a screen between them. Today, Nico was meeting the only Experiment who was a 9 out of 10 on the Danger Scale, Wednesday Sallow. Wednesday didn't look that impressive. With her small size and weak body, she looked sick and malnourished, but with her telekinesis and quick, clever mind, she deserved to be an 8 out of 10. She put a hand on her slick black hair and thought for a bit, fiddling with her fingers. "I don't know, Nico, but I'm sure she's fine. Violet's tough. Friends and Family are the most important thing we have here. My sister, Indigo, is on the Second Floor. I don't get to see her." Wednesday's wood brown eyes glittered, as if imaging all the horrible, gory things she could do to the Scientists for keeping her from her little sister. They sat in silence for a few minutes, until a Scientist came to take them both back to their cells. The door was shut, and Nico was lost in the darkness again. That is, until the next day. Nico could hear voices from outside his cell. From what he could hear, a man with a quiet, nervous voice, and a woman with a high-pitched, almost bird-like voice, were trying to convince another woman – whom he couldn’t hear – from going into his cell. "Ma'am, I strongly advise not going into that cell!" piped the high-pitched woman. "I must agree with Dr. Vita." said the nervous man. "It is too dangerous." The faint woman's voice said something that Nico couldn't understand. Then the door clicked and opened, and when his eyes adjusted to the bright light, Dr. Lucy stood in the doorway. ❜ ⁺ ･ﾟˊˎ ₊❏❜ ⁀➷⋮ Welp, there was chapter 4! Let me know what you thought!
