i had no idea why red foxes scream like a woman being murdered in a horror movie or something. its a bit disturbing... why do foxes scream at night? short answer: to attract a mate and scare off predators. more info: the screaming from foxes sound gruesome and distasteful, not "attractive" but it is to them. a vixen (female fox) will scream to scare off predators to protect their young. a dog (male fox, not a dog that goes, "woof") screams to claim their territory or area and scare off his competitors for mates.
