His leg had healed up, but he still had to limp at times. Mike tried talking to him after that night, but he never got a verbal response. So he insisted upon helping him everywhere until Will opened back up. Mike had apologized hundreds of times, but Will already forgave him. He could never stay mad at him for long. Tonight, El begged the two of them to go roller skating with her, Mike agreed, Will did so hesitantly. He didn’t want to go anywhere but school and home, he hated going out now, feeling too ashamed. Mike and El are still together, he told himself. He felt disgusted letting Mike k-s him like that. He hated it so much, he dreamed about it happening more and more often as time went on. He knew he shouldn’t have been fine with it, he knew he should’ve told El. He just couldn’t bring himself to ruin their relationship. They seemed so happy, he couldn’t bear destroying it. “Will?” El asked, snapping him out of his thoughts. He raised his head, confused. “You okay? You’ve been staring at the ground for a while now, I was starting to get worried,” she said quietly, glancing at Mike who was in the rink. “Uh, yeah. Just have a lot on my mind is all,” he responded, making sure no one else was listening in. “You sure? You’ve been pretty silent the last few days,” El said softly, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. “Oh, I, uhm, I’m fine. Don’t worry,” he stuttered, looking away. El nodded, standing up. “I’m gonna go join Mikey.” Will nodded, his heart aching as he watched her go. He wanted to say something, to admit what had been done. Will sighed, watching the two of them skate. He was jealous. So very jealous. He clenched his hands, his eyes burning as he blinked back tears. He hated everything at that moment. He hated the stupid town, his brother, his father, El, Mike, and most of all, himself. “Will?” He stood up quickly, knocking into someone. “Gah, I’m sorry!” he said quickly, holding onto them to keep himself from falling. “Woah, it’s okay!” Mike said, standing him upright. Will tensed, letting go of him. “You okay? That’s the first time you’ve spoken to me in months,” he said quietly, holding his arm. Will yanked it out of his grip, looking to the floor. “Will,” Mike said in a low voice. “Please, talk to me. I’m sorry, truly.” Will sniffled slightly, rubbing his eyes. “Hey, it’s okay!” he said quickly, worried for him. Will grabbed onto Mike’s arms, quietly sobbing. “How about we take this outside, I don’t think causing a scene here would do any good for you,” he muttered, leading him away from everyone else. They took off their skates, handing them back in and putting their own shoes back on. Mike led Will outside, making sure no one was near before he began speaking. “Will, please tell me what’s the matter. I know I should’ve asked before k-sing you, and I know it was horrible of me to do that while dating El,” he paused, unsure. Will nodded, wanting him to go on. “But the thing is, I broke up with her way before that. Well, more like she broke up with me, again.” “So, you two just decided to not tell anyone?” Will asked, his throat dry and scratchy. Mike nodded, ashamed. “It was my idea, I didn’t want to make anything more weird between us, but I just f-ked it up even more. I’m sorry.” Will smiled a bit, “It’s alright, I’m just glad you told me.” Mike smiled back at him, grabbing onto his hand.
