I wrote this for english class this year, in october, it was supposed to be a 'spooky story' but I'm terrible at that.. so umm enjoy. !DISCLAIMER: HAS SOME GRUESOME WORDING! As the daylight came to a close, Chicago was still. Everyone going home to rest, animals going to their burrows. However, a few people were still out and this, this was the time for him to strike. He sat down on a bench next to Lake Michigan waiting, this still night was perfect. He waited for his next victim, but it seemed they would never come. It was silent, only the small sound of rushing water could be heard. A small time later he saw a girl, she looked lost and confused. She approached him, still quite weary of her surroundings. “Hello, may I be of any assistance?” He asked, standing up. “Well— I seem to be lost, I’m new in town and I need some directions.” She explained. “Well you're in luck my dear, I’m one of the best navigators in this town. I've been here so long the layout is on the back of my hand.” He laughed, with a crooked smile. “Alright, thank you. I appreciate it.” She smiled. “Now, I think it’d be best if we introduced ourselves. My name is Arius, first class navigator at your service.” He stated, bowing. She chuckled, and introduced herself, “I am Cecilia, and you're quite old fashioned aren't you?” “I suppose I am, don’t get me mixed up with an old timer though. I’m actually younger than I look.” Arius Answered, amused. “Now then, I think it’s time to bring you to your destination. Well, where are you headed?” He asked “I’m trying to find my way to my apartment, someone gave me coordinates but they lead to the convenience store. I suppose it was meant to be a joke, but as the one receiving the joke I didn’t think it was funny.” “I wouldn’t think it was funny either, but if I were receiving the joke the person would have had to give me the actual coordinates.” He chuckled. “Now then, follow me I will take you to your apartment, it is the one by Sixteenth avenue, correct?” Arius asked. “I think so…” Cecilia answered, unsure. They headed to the apartment, joking and talking along the way. When they arrived Cecilia thanked Arius, he handed her a piece of paper, it wrote ‘Usually at the park by the lake.’ Cecilia read it, looked up, and it seemed he was gone. Soon after that Cecilia continued to ask Arius for help, he kindly obliged, showing her place after place. Though he grew hungry, hungry for a victim. Day after day he grew more and more agitated, more hungry than ever. Soon enough Celilia noticed this, and one day at the park she asked, concerned, “Hey, you are not being your regular self, what’s wrong?” “It is…nothing for you to worry about.” He answered in an attempt to move on from this subject. “It is though, we’re friends therefore I worry about your wellbeing.” She explained, desperate for an answer from him. “I said, It’s nothing for you to worry about and I mean it.” He responded, irked. “Please give me a straight answer.” She pleaded. “No, I do not have to explain myself to you. You're just some lowly girl that I found roaming the streets! We are not friends, I’m simply doing what is right by helping you. Leave me be.” He yelled, his voice piercing Cecilia like a knife. “I am sorry, sorry that I was such an inconvenience to you, goodbye.” She stated, sadly, walking the other way. “Wait, Cecilia! I didn’t mean—” He shouted, but cutting off. “It is better this way…I suppose this was for the best.” Arius thought aloud. Arius and Cecilia went their separate ways, Arius accepted this and again, began sitting at the park awaiting his prey. Time had passed and again no one set foot in the park, Arius who once had never felt happiness was lonely. He had a longing for something more than his life, he thought of his life like a game of cat and mouse. Though it seemed he was the cat, that wasn’t the case. He was the mouse, in an endless chase running from his own self. After this however, he felt the need to step up and end this seemingly ongoing game. He went around looking for Cecilia, at the apartment, and all the other places they went. Arius didn’t find a thing, not a thing, he looked again…nothing. Arius decided to simply wait, after all these things take time right? He waited on the bench at the park, he waited for her to come like she did when they first met. To no avail Arius waited and waited, somehow he did not give up hope, he assumed eventually he would prevail. Soon enough though, the night came, the night when they would meet again. Cecilia sat down on the bench next to Arius, not uttering a word. The silence continued for a few moments, then Arius started talking. “Look, I didn’t mean to…I just— I am sorry okay? Given that you kept asking me questions, I was out of sorts. Please just forget what happened.” He explained. continued in notes and credits.
!DISCLAIMER: HAS SOME GRUESOME WORDING! Cecilia didn’t say anything, she just stood up and walked towards the lake and staring into the vast abyss of water. “Y’know, the lake really is beautiful, isn’t it?” She asked, still looking at the water “Yes, quite amazing.” He answered. “I have something for you, so please meet me here tomorrow evening.” Arius invited. “Alright, I’ll meet you here tomorrow, goodnight.” Cecilia chimed. The next night Cecilia showed up to the lake, and sure enough Arius was waiting. She walked up to him and asked him what he wanted her there for. He answered, “Cecilia, you remind me of this lake, your eyes shining such as the glimmering water. Most of all your kindness and calmness.” He answered smiling. “Now, have you ever heard of a kelipe? They are dangerous monsters who kill to survive, they are two-faced lying monsters…as am I. I’m sorry my dear, I’m sorry it has to end this way, but that is what means I have to live by.” He then pushed Cecilia into the water, watching her writhe and call for help. He jumped in after her forcing her under the water letting her flail until her final breath. The body lie limp in the water, Arius letting it sink down to the depths of the lake. Soon after this incident he felt guilty…even if it was to feed himself, though Arius’ objective was complete the guilt was slowly eating him away. “The name Cecilia means blind, I suppose she was blind to all of this…” He spoke, saddened. Arius carried on, though he didn’t seem to have any more victims. It is said some people still see him at the park by the lake, sitting, waiting.
