These islands are away from predators and rich with aquatic creatures which live in the lakes and shallow water surrounding them. even though the island is rich in vegetation they opted for a semi-aquatic niche instead since they are already carnivores and evolving herbivory takes time and plants are not a protein rich food source like meat is! I also mentioned that the first species occasionally ate aquatic fish-like creature so a species in this genus becoming fully piscivorous seems very plausible to me They can no longer fly since flying takes up a lot of energy. because there are no predators on the Turtely islands they can loose the ability to fly with no drawbacks! this has happened to a lot of bird species on earth. They have grown very large because of the abundance of food and the fact that they aren't limited by flight anymore. They also have much less fuzz on their neck when fully grown to regulate their temperature better. They use the large sails on their tails to communicate with other members of their species, they do not use them to swim! To catch food they go to the edge of a river or wade in a shallow lake and wait for creatures to swim close enough for them to catch it, similar to a stork/crane, and so do not need to adapt to swimming. They have very long heads and teeth to catch slippery aquatic creatures, and also posses a harpoon-like tongue to help with this as well. Earth storks also have this They have retained their large ear structures to listen and call to other members of their species and are very vocal creatures. they sound like a mix between an air horn and a crocodile :) They come in a range of colours from green to blue Credit to for creating the studio and the human model! I plan to make a walk cycle animation for these creatures and also to make more creatures in general so stay tuned :D
