(Use full screen for better quality) The first page of “My Beast”, a comic that I’m working on. It’s loosely based on my real life with some fantasy elements like guardian beasts, hence the character Baryoku/Pyro.
Plot: Hawk is just an ordinary 16 year old boy in his sophomore year of high school. He’s like anyone else, only, he’s keeping a secret. His spirit guardian Boryoku, who prefers to be called Pyro, an anthropomorphic red panda spirit is his best friend and protector. Since nobody but Hawk has seen Pyro, not even Hawk’s parents, everyone thinks he just has an imaginary friend. His elderly neighbor Mr. Johnson thinks he’s a schizophrenic. Being the odd one in the crowd is rough and it doesn’t help that Hawk’s parents set him up to see the school counselor every week. Will everyone learn Hawk’s secret and adjust to it? Or will Hawk remain an outcast? Buckle up, because things are gonna get weird.
