Why do we go to school? We go to learn Why do we learn? So we can work Why must we work? So we get payed Why must we be paid? So we can buy food Why do we need food? So we can survive But why do we need to survive? I mean, there's no incentive for living another day, so why bother. Haha, I know, I'm pathetic and a bit selfish for actually thinking about this. After all, they still need me, for some reason. Going back to the topic of school, I've just came to a sudden realization. Just bear with me, I swear this toes all come together. I was doing research for a school project, and I came across something rather interesting. When tanners are labeling hides, they use the letters 'A' 'B' 'C' 'D' 'E' and 'F'. Pretty normal so far, right? Well, A grade is the highest quality leather possible. It's got absolutely no marks or blemishes, and is perfect for almost any use. B grade is still amazing, though it does have slight imperfections. Small scratches or marks around the edges, that kind of thing. C grade is still pretty good. It's not as perfect as A grade material, but it's still fairly smooth, clear, and easy to work with. After that is where it gets a bit messy. D grade leather is cut to be a lot smaller. pretty decent. It's the last stretch before the leather becomes very low quality. It does have many marks, and maybe some slight discoloration, but is still perfectly good to be used. E grade material is quite, well, meh. It has quite a few imperfections, likely from disease, infection, branding, or wounds and scarring. It's not the worst quality, but it's just barely decent. F grade leather is absolutely awful. It's nearly unusable, and typically very low quality. This means that any F grade material is immediately rejected. Now, lets look at the grading system for children. Not just humans, but CHILDREN. A is the best you can do. You are appreciated by most of your teachers, and tend to hand in work on time. You're doing great. B is still great. Maybe not the best possible grade, but most people will be perfectly happy with this. Maybe you do procrastinate a bit, but you always push through. C is just barely hanging on. You're still passing, but just barely. Maybe you simply can't do any better, or maybe you just don't feel like it, but either way, you'd better get yourself together. D is like falling. You're already off the cliff, but you still have time to pull yourself up. It'll be hard, but it's possible. Hopefully somebody is there to help you. F. Oh boy. This is the words you could possibly do. You've hit the bottom, you didn't manage to save yourself. You're laying on the ground, wondering how you let yourself come to this. Now, lets take a look at these two side by side. Factory grades; A, B, C, D, E, F School grades : A, B, C, D, F Hm, shockingly similar. thats not all, schools often have their students sit silently in rows, filling out worksheets or forms. They have us stand in straight lines, and stay silent as much as possible. They limit out free time, and keep us away from out friends. Lets face it- this sounds a bit too similar to factory work for my liking. And while we're on the topic of how suspicious this whole thing is, lets bring up some more *S C I E N T I F I C E V I D E N C E*. According to a study done in... er... somewhere cold, students are proven to do better with more free time, or at least some outdoor learning. Even though the participating students spent way less time doing work, they still had impressively high marks on tests. And it's not like they were doing good for students spending 3 hours a day learning, no. They were getting some of the highest scores in the world. Ah yes, yet another fact. The minds of teens and older children are proven to not fully function until 10 to 11 AM. Hm. My mind isn't working until lunchtime, yet you expect me to successfully learn a new language at around 8:00? Really? Yet another thing. At my school earlier this year, the principal had the students submit a survey on what they wanted at school. After an investigation of my own, I found that over 70% of the school asked for a break. Not a longer lunch, not more pizza days, not less homework, a break. Specifically a certian amount of time added to recess. It wasn't even a ridiculous amount of time- it was a range of 5-10 minutes. FIVE TO TEN MINUTES. Not even more oppertunities for movies and snacks. Just five extra minutes. We knew that it wouldn't happen, yet we still asked. We did get something though, but it honestly ruined everything. We were no longer allowed to finish classwork outside of the class. Teacher's lessons were ruined, and most of us became incredibly stressed. Honestly, does nobody see us struggling? Ugh. And not just that, but a lot of us are kind of scared to ask for help. We know that some teachers will gladly give us all the time in the world, as long as we make our assignments as good as we can but... what will she think?
(+) The principal, who just so happens to be the highschool math teacher. Honestly, I h@te her. I h@te her so much. Sure, she knows the information, but she can't teach. It's not just that, I h@te her as a person too. One week, our math teacher said she was going to Italy to visit her husband, but something was a bit, well, off. Her son was still at school, which made no sense. He had to leave in a month to get his visa renewed, and he loved seeing his father too. There was no reason for him to stay behind. We asked the principal (I'll call her Mrs. R) what had happened, and even though our teacher clearly didn't want her to say too much, she told us that the mast teacher(Mrs. C) was doing a bad job, and that she needed to start teaching us properly. I don't know about the other students, but she really doesn't like me either. It's not like I'm seeing things wrong, and I'm 101% sure of it. Mrs. R would walk away from me as I was asking her for help, but she didn't do it with anybody else. She would sometimes completely ignore me, causing me to fall behind. I swear, I'm not just seeing from a slightly twister perspective. I know, I tend to do that, and I came up with an idea. I asked another student, P about it. She doesn't like me much either- in fact, she had absolutely no reason to help me. Yet when I asked if she noticed, she nodded. She repeated back everything I believed to have happened. Huh. Well, I should probably stop now. Goodbye <3
