Scarlette stared out her room window, at the house next door. A new family had just arrived there, and she had met their daughter just a few days before. Scarlette couldn't explain it, but she felt a strong pull towards the girl. They were about the same age and were soon going to be in the same school, maybe even the same class. Scarlette had an unusual amount of excitement when she found out that they would see each other every day. Suddenly, she heard a voice. "Scarlette!" She snapped out of her daze. "Scarlette!" She heard the voice again. "Come take the trash out!" Scarlette recognized it as her dad's voice. "Coming!" she called, hopping out of her chair and rushing downstairs. She grabbed the trash bag and rushed outside, glancing back at the house that flanked hers. "Hi!" Scarlette spun around, confused. /I'm getting distracted too often these days,/ she thought. But her thoughts were soon interrupted when she recognized the new girl, Bella. "Oh- uh- hello," Scarlette stammered. Bella grinned. "I saw you outside and decided to come say hello. I guess that was kinda obvious, though, huh?" Scarlette, surprisingly, didn't know what to say. She was usually so talkative! She just nodded awkwardly and gave a strained smile instead. They ended up standing outside talking for a long while, although Scarlette never really got rid of her newfound sense of anxiety until she went back into her house. The same thing happened to Bella. Although Bella new what was going on, unlike Scarlette. She liked her new friend. As in, a crush. Bella wondered if Scarlette felt the same way. Scarlette thought about what had happened earlier in the day a lot after that. She tried to find an explanation for it, until... well, she did. But she wasn't sure how to feel about that explanation. Did Scarlette have a crush on Bella? No, that was crazy! Right? Scarlette pushed the thought aside and went to bed. The next day, Scarlette went to school to find out that Bella was being added to her class! Another wave of excitement pulsed through her. Scarlette thought about "the explanation" again, and tried to wave it off like she did last night, but she couldn't. She had to tell Bella how she felt. Later, Bella found a time to talk to Scarlette in private and began speaking to her. "Scarlette, I know I'm new here and I've only known you for a few days. Or rather, I don't really know you. But I want you to know how I feel about you, and I don't want you to be weirded out or anything and I hope we can still be friends if you don't feel the same way..." Uh oh. She was rambling. Bella scolded herself internally and opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted. "Bella, I really really like you," Scarlette blurted out. Bella stared at her for a moment. Scarlette stared back. They both blushed. Getting over it, Bella inched a bit closer to Scarlette. Scarlette leaned in, and they both closed their eyes and pressed their lips together. When they pulled away, they smiled at each other and hugged. Scarlette placed her hand in Bella's, and they walked away confidently, together.
wow the "she liked her new friend" sounded way creepier than I meant it to be I know the plot moved fast, but uh it was meant to be a short story. pun intended I ran out of creativity after writing this, so that's why it has a basic title/thumbnail
