My driving question: How do you snowboard? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Snowboarding is a very fun sport to learn. If you want to try snowboarding, here are some helpful tips: To make your first snowboarding trip enjoyable, you should: Wear proper safety equipment. Layer up! Snowboarding is no fun if you are shivering the whole time. Wait for powdery snow. This will help cushion any falls you might have. Snowboarding is very similar to both wakeboarding and skateboarding. If you have experience with either sport, snowboarding becomes a lot easier. If you haven't gone wakeboarding or skateboarding, here's what you need to know: Most people snowboard with their left foot in front; I recommend this for first-timers. It takes a little while to get used to standing in a snowboard, you should be able to stand of comfortably before going down a hill. Steering: steering is very important if you want to avoid dying, which I recommend. If you have your left foot forward, you can make your board go right by leaning forward onto your toes. You can go left by leaning back onto your heels. Once you've mastered turning, you've got the basics down. You should be able to successfully complete a bunny hill. Once you can turn, all it take is lots and lots of practice. Practice turning in sharp turns and wide turns until you feel comfortable dodging trees and other snowboarders. After that, you can try anything!* I don't recommend trying black diamonds yet, but maybe a smaller hill. Try riding a lift, try some small side hits, maybe even attempt the park!
