Chap. 5 Sorry for getting the last chapter out so late.. I’ve been busy. First: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/811375357 Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/817772901 ___________________________________________________ Lunch was awkward. And I mean REALLY awkward. Everyone was quiet, including Miss Taylor. I actually never knew a meal could be so quiet. All of the breakfasts, lunches and dinners I’ve had were loud. I usually have to eat in the living room or in the patio outside. But now, its over. Im in my new room, in the corner sitting on a really fuzzy pink chair. I might as well sleep here. Im about to fall asleep when someone comes barging into the room. It’s Simeon. “Oh, there you are!” He says excitedly. “I’ve been meaning to ask, would you like to go exploring?” I smile at him. “Don’t need to ask me twice.” ___________________________________________________ Miss Taylor?” He knocks On the office door. “Yes, Simeon? Come on in,” she says. “Oh, no. I just came to say that me and Hope are going to go explore. We won’t be gone for long, promise.” She smiles. “Of course. Hope, I’m glad you’re settling in. Okay, you two. Be back by dinner time.” Simeon runs down the hall and takes a right. “Hey! Wait for me, I don’t know my way around here!” I yell after him. “Oh, right. I’m sorry.” He slows down. I manage to catch up to his long strides. Dang, this man walks fast. “Hey, wanna know how long this house has been up for?” He asks. He must have seen me eyeing the wall suspiciously. “Yeah, sure.” “Great!” We finally reach the end of the hall, and he opens a door. The grass is still as green as it was a couple of hours ago. And there, lying on the grass, was a mouse. I’m guessing Simeon doesn’t see it, because he walks right toward it. “It was built in the 1920’s, before the Great Depression. So it’s basically been around for-“ “Simeon watch out!” He stops dead in his tracks. “What?” I pick up the mouse. “Awe, it looks hurt.” He makes a disgusted face. “Ew, that’s nasty.” I laugh. “It’s not disgusting,” I say. “What if you were this mouse, and this mouse was you? Wouldn’t you get mad if somebody called you disgusting?” He thinks for a moment. “I guess I would be.” “Exactly,” I say. “Now, how about we start exploring?” ___________________________________________________ That’s a small pond, But for this mouse, it would probably look like a lake! I mean, look at them. That mouse is AT LEAST four inches tall.” I’m laughing so hard I have to sit down on the dirt. It’s been about 30 minutes and this mouse hasn’t left my side. “Okay, okay. Get up,” He grabs my wrists and pulls me up. He gets down to grab the mouse. My mouse. I glance off into the distance, and I see a forest. “Hey,” I tap his shoulder. “What’s in that forest?” He looks over to where I’m pointing. “Oh, we don't know. Miss Taylor never lets us enter that forest.” He laughs. “Lo always swears she hears voices in there sometimes.” I look at him in confusion. “What do you mean by ‘voices’?” I ask.
