~Warrior Cats Character Review: Nightstar~ The reason I decided to do a project about Nightstar is because I believe that he is a highly underrated character that commonly gets overlooked or described as weak, useless, old, etc., which, in my opinion, do not correctly describe him. Let’s start with his life as a warrior/elder. When a cat becomes a leader it is very common for everyone to judge them based off of their leadership and not as who they were before they became leader. Example: Nightstar is seen as a bad leader but we forget how he led the fight against Brokenstar to take back ThunderClan’s stolen kits. Nightstar (at the time Nightpelt) was cast out of the ShadowClan camp along with his fellow elders by Brokenstar, and sent to live in the edge of the territory. He had to hunt for his denmates and eventually led them to take back ShadowClan and turn it back into what it once was. As a warrior, he was optimistic, caring, and good-hearted. All great traits. Then, he had to retire early due to a chronic illness. As a leader, he was determined to keep ShadowClan together even if he made some bad decisions. No one is perfect. NOT EVEN FIRESTAR SO STOP GIVING NIGHTSTAR SO MUCH HATE! Though he was a little rude to ThunderClan even after they helped him and he did argue against the idea to bring back WindClan, I don’t think people often question why. Most of the time, there is more to it in someone’s mind to do something than just “hey let’s do this” etc. It was not his fault that he did not get his 9 lives. (It was also not StarClan’s either they can’t take away leadership that’s just how it works.) He might have felt pressured to keep himself and his Clan strong and therefore probably wanted to minimize threats. See what I mean? I bet a lot of you didn't think of that. But in the end, he made up for his mistake and allowed ThunderClan to send a rescue patrol to save WindClan at a gathering. He also never gave up when trying to lead his Clan. He is the one who chose Tawnypelt to go to the Sun-drown place in StarClan. Yes, he did team up with RiverClan to take WindClan’s hunting grounds, but again, do you know why? Because his Clan was starving! He was trying to help his Clan! If he were really a bad cat do you think he would’ve ended up in StarClan?! Because his Clan didn’t have enough food was the reason they had to eat carrion which is what caused the sickness that ended up taking his life. He did not attack WindClan because he is a bad cat, he did it because his Clan was starving. Those are the reasons why I think he is highly underrated and should get more credit than he does. He deserves it and I think he should be a more popular leader.
