Hey I remember when the aesthetic community was fun Original Exciting When main aesthetic people were scratchers like @Bubble-Frog @luviinqq @FlowerCoconut @cxerryblossom + @astro-tears They had fun and entertaining projects and tutorials Their thumb styles, descs, and b/ws weren't super complicated, they were quite simple but very pretty and that was great and amazing and stuff But now? There are some sort of standards To be aesthetic you have to have a very specific and complex style, and if you don't you’re just not considered good enough. But because of that, there’s no originality. Everyone has the same styles, project ideas, names, usernames, and bios. Someone who joined like 3 days who only has like one bce shared and an edit or two, they will be considered underrated. And yet they have like 100 followers. In 3 days. For posting no real content. Now i get it. Those stuff take time and effort. Ofc. But..there are tons of ACTUAL underrated ppl who have been on scratch for a year or more and post actual content and yet have only 200 followers or something. Bc they’re just not considered aesthetic enough. Why. What. Happened. To. This. Community. It is so unfair. If you go to the aesthetic community rn and go to the project section, all you’ll see are some bces, edits and other generic projects that are so overused. If you go the curator section, 90% of the scratchers will have south East Asian people as they’re pfps. Like actually wth. Most of them aren’t even K-pop singers or smth they’re just normal south East Asian people. That makes me sick. It’s like if i were to go to my local supermarket, find some one with a cool outfit, take a photo of them and set it as my pfp. But no, thats different. Korean, Japanese and Chinese people are ‘aesthetic’ so it’s fine. What. If you go to a random aes scratchers prof, the bio will have their generic, overused nickname, their pronouns, ‘Asian’, ‘tysm for __ followers, what K-pop group they stan and prolly smth like ‘my friends: generic name 1, generic name 2, generic name 3’ Their banner will have a Japanese greeting or something The projects will be unoriginal, short, and idk i feel I’m just trash talking ppl by now lol But tell me i’m wrong. Go on. People just dont have personalities anymore. Everyone’s the same. If someone says ‘omg my bsf on scratch is Karen she’s so funny’ I’m like, who? There’s literally like 50 Karens now who th are you talking about. (Idk why i chose Karen i just didnt want to choose an actual popular name bc people would prolly attack me if i did lol) And why do so many ppl set their locations to countries in asia or have Korean ppl as their pfps, banners and thumbs, and just straight up ‘Asian’ in their bio? If you are asian then great, but it doesn’t automatically make you aesthetic. There 48 countries in Asia. Look at a map. If you say Asian you’re probably implying that you are from either Korea, japan or china, (bc the other 45 countries just dont exist anymore ig) but if you are, why dont you just specify? I’m not European, i’m Irish. And i dont put European on my prof. What’s really horrible is when ppl from who aren’t ‘asian’ say they are and act like it, only to be more aesthetic. That actually makes me sick. You’re disrespecting an entire culture. Now I’m not from Asia so i cant speak for them but i do want to point it out. And SO many impersonators and drama that only do it for attention, like actually just STOP. Last thing that i wanted to talk about are ‘idols’. Not k-pop members. Just normal ppl on scratch. Ppl who go to popular aes scratchers and say stuff like ‘omg ilysm your my idol ilysm ilysm’ or ‘omg you replied what ilysm tysm ahhh’ or ‘omg guys followed me or hearted my proj I’m dying’ Just stop. You’re making them uncomfortable. You don't know them. They are NORMAL ppl. Just like you and me. This website is for kids, from 8-16. So they’re prolly around the same age as you. But at the same time..you don’t know that. It is SO easy to lie online. You can be talking and making friends with a 46 year old man and saying ‘omg ily bestie’ to him. That stuff happens. VERY often. Now I’m not a 46 year old man lol i promise. But again. You. Don’t. Know. That. And also a lot of people try to make friends w/ popular aes scratchers literally just for fame and so they can put them at the top of their ‘friend list’ Is that what this community has come to? Unoriginal, boring, repetitive projects, drama, fame and followers? No wonder so many ppl are leaving lol. For the time being, I’m not leaving if you’re wondering. I’ll continue posting projects but i will prolly leave sometime this year. Maybe summer? Idk tbh. I’ve just been on this platform for almost 2 years now and its just not AS fun as it was. I’m really sorry if you were offended by this, it isnt targeted at anyone, I’m just so sick of this and i really wanted to point it out.
