Indeed, it’s a small price to pay for a pup who knows too much, and they continuously torment him, taunting him with fake promises of the truth, only to slip out of his paws the moment he accepts. This four-year-old lives with no identity, isolated by his inner turmoil and refusal of help. It’s a lot for someone so young, but in the world of black sands and hidden secrets, what more did you expect? Backstory He ponders his existence meticulously, pondering what was and what is, having been born with a keen eye and sharp wit. Already, he knew something was wrong, that his mother hides things from him and his sibling. But whenever he asks, she refuses, her good intentions sadly depicted as bad. It frustrates and tires him, but nothing seems to budge his mother, and his relationship with his family slowly strains. Then came the straw on the camel’s back, the time she left for a whole day. It was in a lone village, and Artemis was trying to buy some supplies. Yet luck seemed to be against them, and guards happened to be patrolling the city. In an act of safety, she hid her children in an alley. Salem, at the time, was only 2, a young pup who had no idea what was going on and was starting to miss his mom already. The shadows once again ganged up on him, and his sibling refused to help. After that, his urge to figure out his past increased. Now with the winds as a companion, no one was going to stop him, not even his mother. Personality Salem is an introspective thing, always hiding behind those he’s familiar with when he faces a stranger. His trust and attachment issues only increase this, and he struggles to make friends with those his age. But what’s the point when you’ll never see them again? He speaks in whispers, refusing to speak any louder out of stubbornness and inclination. His isolation from his family also forces him to hide deeper in his shell, never coming out when he needs to the most. He never says what he thinks, quietly agreeing with whatever the Felnine says. At least this way, he isn’t causing any trouble. Hobbies Salem likes to explore by himself, enjoying the peace it gives him. It may seem weird, but if he’s not too far from his mother, then it’s fine. For him, it’s a chance to clear his mind, which seems to be getting sparse every day. He also enjoys talking to the wind, finding solace in the familiar presence it brings. Although he is still learning, he has a love for reading and adores ancient texts and stories with heroes and adventures. Strengths Salem has a sharp mind which allows him to pick clues others might overlook. He is also stealthy and used to hiding and navigating places without clothes to cover himself. Weaknesses Salem’s trust and attachment issues prevent him from forming meaningful relationships, even having a strained bond with his family. He sometimes feels hopeless and despondent, adding to his troubles more when he refuses to try and solve them. He’s getting more problematic, almost getting spotted at times when he tries to look for clues. It certainly doesn’t help that he refuses to wear a cloak. Short Story Salem's sore paws beat against the desert, tongue lapping up at his thirst for water. The lad was only 2 at the time, and this paved the way for what he is now. "Momma, where are we going?" He asked, stomach rumbling despite his best efforts to hide it. Artemis looked at him with sadness and paused in her tracks to check on her children. "We're almost at out destination dear. Just be brave for Mommy ok?" Her soft fur pushed against his cheek, and he leaned into it with a purr. His sibling interfered, wanting their own chance to feel their Mother. Salem argued with them, and Artemis smiled, eyes drooping a bit at the fate her children had to handle. They continued going on, eventually reaching the town Artemis had chosen to go to. Even more thirstier, Salem fell with a huff, refusing to answer his sibling when they poked him with a stick. Artemis ignored all this, looking for anything she could. Before she could though, a clad of armour bustled down the street, and her eyes widened with fear. She shoved her children into an alley, shushing their protests and looking up to be safe. "Mommy has to go for a bit," The words escaped her mouth in short bursts. "Stay here until I come back." "Momma-?" Salem failed to ask his question as she darted out of the alley, and he crouched down in fear. -->
"Relax Salem, Mom will be back, promise." His sibling assured him, and they promptly lied down to sleep. But Salem couldn't. The shadows that always seemed to walk behind him used this chance to jump. The young Felnine covered his ears in fear, eyes closed shut as he failed to block them out. "M-Mommy..." He wrapped his tail around his body, and the shadows continued to close in on him. "Sibling!" Tears were in his eyes now, and he shook them in an attempt to save himself. "Leave me alone Salem... sleepy..." They yawned and turned around, Salem's ears fell. He hiccupped and scurried into a corner, waiting for everything to be over. But as he did, a whispering noise came. "H-hello?" His voice was quiet as he looked up, the darkness frozen in its path. The whispering continued, and a breeze of sand blew against his fur. "M-my name's Salem." He continued, and the whispering responded. He started to hold conversation with it, shadows dissolving into nothingness as his fear left. "I-I don't know much about my past." He responded to the whispers. "Mommy doesn't tell me anything, and the shadows don't like to help me..." His ears pricked up at its response and he rubbed his neck. "I guess Mommy and Sibling don't usually help me..." He looked at his supposed new friend. "Sibling didn't help me with the shadows now... and Momma's left." More whispering was heard. Huh, I don't think that's a bad idea. Yeah, I'll find out my backstory myself!" His eyes lit up and he shifted his position. The whispers started to die down. "Thanks whispers..." He called out, lying down against his sibling's fur, although their bond was now threatening to break. When Artemis came back. He had a new goal, and his family wasn't going to stop him. ——————— How he roams these planes, searching for something that doesn’t want to be found. It’s a fruitless journey, but he refuses to give up, enduring the dangers of his home that is the desert. Yet his troubles are greater than you realize, and he might as well be cursed by the gods, destined to forever carry his problems by himself. Facts |<>|<>|<>| Though he's been taught about Solaris, he isn't very faithful to it. He's fond of sand, having grown around it all his life. But it's mainly because it's his source of most conversations. Salem isn’t a fan of wearing clothes to hide, and prefers being stealthy. He’s a big night owl, constantly seen up at midnight, hence his drooping eyes. He will eat anything edible, and has a high tolerance for any type of food. He isn’t really a planner, and is usually caught of guard by sudden questions. He has a sort of sensor for when things don’t seem right and can’t be lied to. Except his heritage, but we don’t talk about that. *We Don’t Talk About Bruno starts playing* His voice claim would be Bhoot from The Jungle Book live action ver. Basically the voice in the you’re not special animatic. I know his sibling is using it but It fits ok? I imagine he has a growth spurt and is taller than Artemis. Also floof As he gets older, he’ll tend to his fur-mane a lot as it grows but ultimately lets it become a mess He’s definitely the acting type without the dramatics and did roleplays with his sibling often Salem likes to imagine things out of patterns he spots in the clouds and sand. After imagining something akin to a melted face he was asked by Artemis to keep his images to himself after he accidentally scared his sibling. Does he have powers? No, nada, not at all. The shadows are a way of showing his past trying to catch up with him? And the sand's just sand. If Artemis seems different than how she actually is, it's because she is. I wrote this in one swing, I couldn't bother to ask, and I was too lazy to check her bio. Here-ya-go! Roleplay with this boy?
