Okok so some backstory on the world I'm putting him in, the gods just up and vanished, and there was a major panic around the fact that demons were now off the leash and running rampant around the world without restrictions. The angels, being mainly mechanical at this point, immediately shut down since they lost access to their divine energy source. (The exception being the last few more humanoid angels, those guys were still able to survive since they can get energy from food like humans, rather than using divine energy up like a battery, but I digress.) Anyway, since the angels had been used as weapons to keep the demons under control, you can see why everyone would freak out. So Yan is a little demon who can be summoned using a grimoire and is VERY smug about that fact, since only the more powerful demons belong to a grimoire. He's also rather young, he appeared after the gods all died out, so he's kind of the baby of all the grimoire demons. However, as all grimoire demons start out, Yan was once too a human, though he remembers very little about his previous life. It all began during August, as most school years do. Yan was a rather shy kid (I'm thinking around fifteen-sixteen but idk), he liked to be alone or with the company of animals rather than people. Unfortunately, that drew the attention of his schoolmates, who ironically suspected him of being a demon since he barely spoke. Of course, these kids really had no idea what a demon looked/acted like, since all they had seen at the time was propaganda around the subject, which was basically only talking about grimoire demons who are notorious shapeshifters. They bullied him horribly for this, often going as far to physically hurt him in the process, and since his home life wasn't very good either, he often found himself hiding out on the edges of the nearby forest near a cat colony. All that hate towards Yan culminated whenever some lower level demons attacked a nearby city. The destruction left in their wake was enough for the bullies to take action to 'take care of' the 'demon' that was threatening their school. In an attempt to chase him out into the woods and away from the town, the kids accidently ended up chasing him into the jaws of an actual demon (oops). Nobody made it alive out of the forest that day. A few decades later, the land where the forest used to be was built into a new school to hold the influx of students coming from larger cities. It's said if you ever find yourself alone in the school, you can hear someone whispering taunts directly in your ear, and if you happen to be at the school at 2:03 am, a mischievous demon will appear to either bless you with good luck, or rip your throat out, nothing in between. (is it just a rumor or not?? idk man, is it??) He's like,, a miniboss or something. Like he's strong but if you know what ur doing, you can defeat him pretty easily. Summoning him is a lot less taxing than if you were summoning someone like Gulizar, who literally drives you insane and steals your soul. Yan only asks for one thing in return, and that is your friendship. He'll tag around with you as long as you treat him nicely, and might even bring you back coins or shiny things he finds. He's not a good fighter, but he is VERY sneaky and anyone who summons him gains the ability to simply disappear whenever they walk into any relatively shaded area. Though Yan himself has the added ability to meld into shadows, which is fairly creepy whenever you're walking around a dark school at night and someone just sticks their head out of the wall.
