Get to the concert before the Concert master gets ready and raises his Baton. You must guess the letters to a musical word. If you get it right then you are that much closer to making the concert. If you get it wrong then the concert master continues to get ready. When the concert master raises his baton, you have officially missed the concert. (No refunds!)
I have grown increasingly aware of details in the classroom that may have originated from a questionable past. Hangman is one of those details. It was a time sponge when I was younger but I never really looked at the message it was sending. Since beginning my own restorative journey, I have since removed the game from my classroom repertoire and I wanted to make sure FUTURE subs also do not have the desire to use it as a time sponge in my room. By designing this game that has a similar premise to Hangman without the violent history, I can embed it into my sub websites and students can use pre-selected words to guess from WITHOUT having to be subjected to the violent and racist past practice of hanging.
