"Hey, mind if I sit here?" Sophia looked up and blinked, not sure if she was seeing things. Jake was standing by her table, tray in hand, smile on his face. "Um, sure," Sophia said, noticing that everybody in the whole school were looking towards her and Jake. She closed her eyes briefly, wishing that she hadn't so much attention drawn to her. She liked being in the background, and not in the spotlight. "So, do you have any siblings?" Jake asked, and Sophia glanced back at him. "No," she said. "Do you?" He shook his head. "Nope. My parents decided they were happy with one child." "Lucky, my mom just tolerates me," Sophia said, shaking her head. "What do you mean? Why?" "Why'd you sit by me, nobody ever does, I thought that was noticeable," Sophie asked him instead of answering his question, not ready to share her whole personal life with somebody she just met. He decided to go along with the subject change. "I like you. You seem interesting, and not the kind of people to...uh...use others, if you know what I mean." Sophia smiled. "I do. Take London and her gang for example," she added, turning to look at where her table was. "She thinks she's above everybody. She also has seven different boyfriends that she labeled--Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. And they all do her homework because they 'are so lucky to be dating her.'" Sophia rolled her eyes. "Hm, how can people be so stupid?" Jake asked. "That's what I wonder. But I usually like to stick to the background anyways and not get involved with drama." "Heh, sorry I ruined your cover," Jake teased. Sophia rolled her eyes. "You should be; I like sticking to the dark." "Is there a reason for that?" Jake asked, looking at her with a curious expression on his face. "I'm a teenage girl with asthma. What other reason do I need?" Sophia asked, smiling and shaking her head. "You..have asthma?" Sophia nodded. "It gets pretty bad, so I take extra of my medicine every few hours to make sure nothing happens." "Does it work?" Sophia stabbed her food with her plastic fork. "Nope," she said, emphasizing the "p." "So why...?" "Because I'd like to think that it does," Sophia said. She shrugged, shaking her head. "Whatever. What do you think of the new teacher?" "Oh, uh, he's fine. What did you think about his lesson? I noticed you perked up a bit when he started talking about it." "Because it's the only thing I've heard that I don't know about," Sophia replied. "You don't?" Jake asked. "What, and you do?" "I do, actually, since I love history," Jake confirmed. "Oh, hmm," Sophia murmured. Her mind drifted back to the older girl she had seen the other day that had looked exactly like Princess Celestine. "Are there...any known descendants?" "A couple," Jake said carefully. "Why?" "Just...curious," Sophia mumbled, deciding not to tell him that she might've seen one. She noticed Jake narrow his eyes out of the corner of her eye, and she pretended not to notice, eating her lunch and hoping she wasn't getting herself involved in something bad. ˜”*°•.˜”*°• End of Chapter •°*”˜.•°*”˜
Yes I do know what an asthma attack is, yes I know how it works, yes I know that Sophia's version may not be exactly what happens. BUT THERE IS A REASON...you just have to dig deeper into the hints I give out to find it hehe. See yalls next chapter since I have nothing else to say--
