Her mother, Sahara, used to roam the endless deserts in the Kingdom of Sand, and eventually decided to settle in one of Pyrriahs haphazard cities. Sahara had always told young Artimis to stay strong, stay vigilant, and trust no one, but sometimes she found that hard. Life in the Scorpion den was rough as well. The city, if you could call it that, was full of thieves and assassins and whatnot. Artimis usually stayed close to her mother most of the time. Either way, no one wanted to even talk to her, because she was a bit weird looking. Her mother had never told her who her father was, and whenever she brought up the topic, Sahara would shut her daughter out. She supposed that was why she was weird looking, because instead of having sandy-colored scales, each scale had a majestic purple lining to it. Some of her scales were also filled completely with different shades of purple. Her sandwing ruff also has a purple edge. Her wings were also interesting, both were shaped kind of like a butterfly. But the weirdest thing about her was the two antennae that stuck out from her head. She quite liked her appearance, but this was the only thing she tried to hide. No tribe in Pyrriah had antennae, but for some reason she did. When Artimis would roam the den, she always tried to flatten them, usually trying to hide them in her ruff, but it was no use. She stuck out like a broken wing. The only thing she liked about her antennae was that it helped her get out of a sticky situation once. She was pretty sure that it sensed vibrations, because she always knew when someone was coming before she spotted them. One unusually hot day in the den, Artimis was in the markets with her mother. Her mother was checking out the fruit sales while Artimis wandered the streets. She knew them well, after being here her whole life. Just then she spotted an odd-looking stall. it was a deep majestic purple, with white and black accents here or there. A set of tarot cards was set to the side, and a veiled dragon was on the other. "Hello dear," said the veiled dragon. "Are you looking to get your fortune read?" Artimis wasn't sure what to say. Her mother had always told her to stay away from strangers and to trust no one. She had a feeling thing dragon was different though. She seemed more... friendly. "No thank you," Artimis replied. "I don't have any money. I'm sorry." "Don't be dear," the mysterious dragon said calmly. "You seem like a kind soul. I've been looking for someone like that for a while. Would you like to become my apprentice?" Artimis didn't know what to say to this either. Yes, she would've liked to, but there was no way she could get her mother to let her learn from anyone, let alone some shady dragon she found on the sides of the streets. But once she thought it over, Artimis realized that her life had always been this way, constantly obeying her mother's rules, making sure she was small and safe. She knew her mother was only trying to keep herself safe, but she couldn't help but think that Sahara had never explored what her daughter really wanted. She only did what would keep young Artimis safe. She Artimis looked straight into the mysterious veiled dragon's eyes, and said a single word that would change her life, good or bad, she did not yet know. Artimis said "Yes." sry that was very long ;-; ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ ✩ credits song: luv letters by frad coding: thumbnail coding by pastryy, rest by me art: all me, used some references from other artists references: cyprus, check her out on youtube!
