"The Old Woman" By: Me :3 The old woman sat in her alone in her ancient chair, Gently rocking with the breeze. Her mind elsewhere in a distant time. A time when the demons of age were unbeknownst to her. A time when the pleasant presence of youth was a Mainstay of life. The memory danced around her mind vividly. The joy of being alive rang through the walls of her mind. The memory became more and more clear, As the emotions grew more profoundly. A smile came to the aged face. Wait, that can’t be right… The memory stood still. The woman stayed in a confused state. The wicked sands of time broke through the peace and solitude. A wave of pained and unintentional realization Shook the woman to her core. Yet, as soon as the wave rolled past, A blissful ignorance replaced any recollection of the memory. The old woman returned to her steady rockin, Unaware of the shame that had just occurred. Time claimed yet another trophy.
I was inspired to write this poem after listening to all 6 hours of the Caretaker's "Everywhere at the end of time". The poem is a simple metaphor for dementia sucking. The music is the first section of stage 1 of EATEOT (Full video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJWksPWDKOc )
