-my opinions on F4F- for anyone who doesn’t know what F4F means, it means ‘follow for follow’. People do this a lot, saying things like ‘F4F?’ On different projects and whatever. Basically, what it is is that if one person follows someone, then they have to follow them back. Some people have loads of followers because of F4F, but that doesn’t mean they’re actually good at coding or whatever they do on scratch. I understand why people do F4F. If they want followers, it’s a decent way to get them. But the problem with this is that if you ask for F4F on random projects or people’s profiles, then it can get really annoying, and people might not like the kind of people who do things like that. Another problem is that if you have loads of followers who do F4F, they won’t always care about what you actually do. They just want followers. If you make a project, and have loads of followers who do F4F, then you won’t necessarily get loads of view or comments, because the people who are following you are probably just looking for more followers. Another thing is that scratchers follow people because they like what they do, or what kind of projects they make. Or maybe they’re friends in real life. I, personally, wouldn’t just randomly follow someone just because they’ll follow me back. If I follow someone, and they’re not actually intresting, or they don’t make projects that I like, then all I’m going to see on the front page is what that person has been doing that I don’t care about. I won’t find new projects that I like, and the only good thing I’ll get from that person is one follow. And to be honest, I don’t really care about how many people are following me. I just want to make things that people might like, and if they don’t like it, that’s fine. I mean, if I ever do get a lot of followers, then that’ll be great. But I don’t mind, really. What I do mind, though, is if I get loads of followers because I do F4F, but none of them really care about what I do. It goes both ways, though. I wouldn’t follow someone for no reason. I would follow someone because I like their art, or the games they make, or something like that. I would follow them if they’re a nice person, or if they help people with stuff. I don’t just follow people for followers. I follow people if I think they’re worth following. And I wouldn’t want someone to follow me just because they want me to follow them back. If they don’t care about what I do, I don’t care whether they follow me or not. But I’d prefer if the people following me were people who like my projects, not just people who want to be famous. If someone follows me, though, I’ll definitely have a look at their profile, see what kind of projects they make. If I like what they do, I’ll follow them. But if they just want followers, and don’t make anything that I find interesting, then I won’t. - I hope whoever is reading this thinks that this is a reasonable point of view. I completely get F4F, I just wouldn’t do it myself. And if anyone comments on this saying ‘F4F?’ Just don’t. Thanks for reading this, I know I went off on a huge monologue. -
