With LeBron James officially passing the all time points scored list in NBA history, one question remains about the 19 time NBA All-star. How did the fall of the Roman capital, Constantinople, affect LeBron James’ legacy? The most obvious effect is LeBron will never be able to sweep the city’s basketball team in a best of 7 series, meaning it can never be claimed by LeBron. So, instead of the Constantinople Lakers, or the Constantinople Heat, or even the Constantinople Cleveland Cavaliers, we now have the Instan-Chicago Bulls, in an obvious slight by the Ottomans towards LeBron’s legacy of being the greatest of all time. This is further enforced by the fact that the Ottoman empire contained both the modern day country of Jordan and the mid Jordan River. With modern day Istanbul being more aligned with the West, they are more likely to favor the policies of top US diplomats like former Chicago Bulls forward Dennis Rodman, rather than the pro-China starters of LeBron James. As we very well know, anything bad for China is bad for LeBron. Such was the case for the fall of the Eastern Roman Capital. When the Ottomans seized Constantinople, they quickly disrupted and halted trade between China and Europe through the Silk Road, which would certainly hurt China economically. A decision by Mehmed the Conqueror that LeBron has often criticized as being uneducated. As the NBA depends more and more on the Chinese market for revenue, this historical event is certainly something that LeBron often reflects both on and off the court, as disrupting or hurting his beloved Chinese markets could drop his max contract deals from hundreds of millions of dollars, to tens of millions of dollars. It is clear to many historical sports analysts that the fall of Constantinople only hurt LeBron James’ legacy. However, when one dynasty ends, another begins. If LeBron continues to play his cards just right with the Chinese, he could make historical pivots to become the new Chinese president.
