Every wanted to go down a black hole? Me neither. But I’ve wondered what it would be like. This brief guide explains step by step what you’d experience, from the approach to singularity. I think black holes really express how fragile we as a planet actually are. In our day to day lives, we take for granted our existance on earth, we think us humans are superior and have this power over most things. But if we were to zoom out we’d realise it’s nothing short of a miracle that a planet like ours existed in the perfect conditions for a perfect amount of time, despite the billions of threats the universe can throw at us. Yet even in our ‘safe zone’ on our ‘safe planet’, we are never really safe. It takes a matter of seconds for the fate of our planet to be decided and the solar system to be wiped out. Our best way to fight the actions of physics is to use physics itself yet... weve only just begun to learn about the depths of physics. Nothing we do can overpower physics itself. And that’s why I think black holes are beautifully terrifying.
