I started to feel a bit burnt out on art this month so there's not nearly as much as the last two, but I still kept up my streak of drawing everyday (which is now at 90 days o.o). You'll see later on in the month that I start letting myself draw whatever random crap I felt like drawing and that kinda helped me get past it. (Space/click/arrow keys to advance) This part may get a bit confusing, so bear with me. This month I worked on two larger pieces (which are both currently unfinished) and I worked on them sporadically throughout the month, so I'm going to have them first in the project and tell you what days I worked on them. Piece #1 - First digital drawing of the year! I saw an art hack on insta a while back where you draw over screenshots of minecraft as a way to teach yourself perspective so I tried it and it was fun. Also both of these poses were pulled out of my brain without reference so I'm pretty darn proud of them (I did use reference for both of the faces and the pets bc I planned on making these two into characters. Maybe I still will). This is majorly unfinished (as you can tell by it only being a sketch and some lineart) and I won't promise that I'll finish it next month. I worked on this on the March 3-4 and 25. Piece #2 - This is a redraw of a picture of Will Turner that I've attempted twice before. So far I'm super happy with it, I just haven't found the motivation to finish the sleeve or hand yet. When I finish it I'll probably make a separate project with it and both of the previous drawings. I worked on this March 2, 4, 7-11, and 16-17. (If there's ever a day where all I did was work on these pieces I'm going to skip over it) Now onto the rest of this month's art. Like always I've numbered these by day and not by slide, so if you get mixed up just read the date that's written by each drawing. 1 - Another Sura face that I drew without reference, also really like this one. 2 - A mini Will Turner I did in my simplified style as a warm up for the hyper-realistic version. I did this bc back in January and February I drew a hyper-realistic Daredevil and then a simplified version after and drawing the simplified version made me realize all the proportional mistakes I made in the hyper-realistic version. So this time I simplified it first. 5 - Another referenceless Sura face. I had kinda lost steam at this point so I don't really like it. I kind of like the expression but it just doesn't look like Sura. 6 - This one I just hate 12 - One of my marvel headcanon OCs Damian (there's so much material in said headcanon that I may make into something on here one day, but as of right now I don't feel like making sense of it all) in my simple style. He has no last name because I can't come up with one. Lmk if you have any suggestions 13 - My main marvel headcanon OC Sky, also in my simple style. This is technically also a self-portrait because she's a self-insert. 14 - My sister and her boyfriend were home from college this week so I did that painting trend where you switch canvases every 10-15 minutes with them and it was super fun. My contributions on these three were 1: octopus, 2: cherry blossom trees, and 3: the astronaut, stars, and planets (this one is my favorite). 15 - I did the painting thing again with just my sister and my contributions were 1: the sand, ocean, and sky background, the beach ball, and the evil t-rex shadow, and 2: the flower vase and all the picture frames (three of which are of the paintings from the day before). She took the second painting to college with her so this is the only picture I have of it. 18-20 - My doggo Pepsi 21 - I had major art block this day and for some reason drawing the bat symbol sounded appealing, so that's what I did 22 - I felt like drawing with chalk so I drew a Mario mushroom and question mark block and I really like it 23 - Felt like drawing the mike wazowski meme. I didn't realize until looking up references for this that it's sully's face on mike's body. 24 - Mini mike and sully because I wanted to study their shape language. It's actually kinda interesting and I may end up making an entire project about it if I ever find the motivation 25 - Another chalk drawing, this one of perry the platypus. I don't like it as much as the mushroom one but that's probably because it was more frustrating to draw due to the thin black outline. 26 - A some-what redesign of the mask of an old character that I've wanted to revisit for a long time 27 - I decided to try out some new hairstyles for Sura because I really wasn't happy with her old one. I really like how the hair looks on this one but I'm undecided about the face. 28 - I used a reference for the first one bc I couldn't figure out how Sura's profile view would look and I'm really proud of it. The second one I like but it ended up more cartoony than usual and it doesn't really look like Sura. 29 - The last of the hair experiments. Once again the face was without reference and I really like it...
(continued here bc I ran out of room) ...because I think out of all the drawings I've done of Sura, this one looks the most like how I originally imagined her. I think in her final design I'm going to combine the second and fourth hairstyles for the beginning of the story and then possibly have her chop it all off and switch to the first hairstyle later in the story. We'll see how I feel when I get to that point. 30-31 - Design of my marvel OC Sky's A.I. robot companion, Firefly. The circle on the back is an arc reactor if you couldn't tell and the overall design is inspired by the iron man suit. And that's March. Somehow despite there being way fewer drawings I ended up talking way more than the past few months. Hope you enjoyed if you made it this far. Have a great Easter y'all, God bless!
