Chapter 20: Forgiving her I walked into school alone, again. The feeling wasn't unfamiliar to me, but because of Audie, I usually wasn't alone. Yes, I was alone two days ago, but today was different. I walked into the classroom, and to my surprise, Audie was at my desk. "Heyyy Isabel," she said. "So, I know you're probably mad at me for not responding to you yesterday, but uhh I got your note, and I'm REALLY REALLY sorry for what I said!" What note? I was about to ask her, but then I remembered-- the note I wrote to her! I put it on her desk yesterday after class! But then Audie interrupts my thoughts. "Umm what I said to the bullies wasn't true. I just thought they were really cool at first, but now I realize they're super mean! I really hope you can forgive me, and if you can't, I totally understand, what I said was so so horrible!" I paused. She paused. She stared at me, waiting for an answer. I stared at her, waiting for her to say, "APRIL FOOL'S!!! This was all just a prank, what I said was 100% true!!!" But she didn't. I broke the awkward silence and said, "It's fine, Audie. I forgive you."
