The Ship: SS Glorious This was the first ship made for Diamond Line Laid down: June 8, 1925 Launched: July 21, 1927 Completed: December 14, 1927 Knots: 20 Propulsion: 2 Triple-Expansion Steam Engines 1 Steam Turbine Capacity: 4000 people, 510 Crew Backstory: The first ship made for Diamond Line, Unlike most liners, she did both transatlantic voyages, and during the summer cruises in the Pacific. In 1939 World War Two Started. However, as Diamond Line was a American shipping company, the ship was laid up until 1941, when the USA entered. The ship served as a Hospital Ship until 1944, where she served as a ammunition transport, and was painted grey with armaments. After 1945, She returned to passenger service until her retirement in 1955, being replaced by MV Spectacular. However, the ship had grown to popularity for her pacific cruises, and unique paint scheme of a cyan hull, white superstructure, a ultramarine blue keel, with resolution blue funnels topped in white.
