With a precarious axial tilt and an alarmingly close orbit to the sun, it is a wonder anything can live here. Few things do. Serici, a race of sentient cats, are found on Apreiugla. Serici live in small groups, usually around 15-20 cats, and live on the more stable land. However, this all changed eighteen years ago, when a large volcano, Jyhtgs, exploded, triggering a chain reaction and covering the whole planet in lava. Few Serici survived the disaster. Their whole economy collapsed, and the Serici's main food supply was quickly diminished. Aruvi remembers this day well, even though he was only a little kit then. Aruvi wandered the fields of lava, separated from his mother. Weak from exhaustion, Aruvi miscalculated a jump to a far rock. Falling into the lava, Aruvi braced himself for the heat. But when he hit the lava, it was not hot, but instead mildly warm and quite sticky. Pawing his way to the surface, Aruvi got a little lava in his mouth. Instead of tasting like evil or demons (what does lava taste like, anyway?), it reminded him of a treat he had when Aruvi was young. It was... cheese. Aruvi lapped up some lava cheese, then bounded back from the refugee camp he came from. After spreading the news, everyone rejoiced, eating all the lava cheese they could get. ~The End~ I could have made the story go the other way but didn't feel like it. I feel like the background is better than Aruvi.
