Elia was wandering through the forest people. She did not really get why they were doing this, but the elders never lie. She is the second generation of the forest group, a scientific experiment to see if humans can go back to living in the wild, they had to act somewhat quick because climate change was getting so bad that that they had to create this. The scientist in charge of this was Dr. Ivy H. Meadow’s. Elia was the group’s beta or lieutenant, and she was pressured awfully hard to be her best self. She always wanted to see the outside world but something inside her was telling her that it is bad, really bad. She could sometimes hear a distantly sound of something the elders called a train. Apparently, Dr. Ivy H. Meadows chose somewhere far away from human colonization. Elia oversaw all the hunts and making sure the pack was in order. The pack’s alpha, Princeps was always there ‘to show her teeth’ when someone would not listen to Elia. Elia was not the oldest of the group. The group ages ranging from seven years old to seventy years young. The forest people did not slack when they got old, they kept going till the day when they enter the endless forest where they can see their relatives and take a break then. “Elia!” Princeps voice rang out and Elia rushed towards the cave of the leader. “What do you need?” Elia asked entering the den looking around. “May you set a pack hunt,” Princeps said with a raspy voice. “Yes,” Elia said. Princeps coughed, “Are you ok?” “I’m fine, Noah is coming as soon as they can.” “Then I’ll be off,” Elia walked out and let out a high-pitched bark. The forest people had a language that contained barks, howls, whimpers, grunts, growls, and sometimes finger movement. All the people walked towards her eagerly to get a spot in the hunting party. “Five people are going to be on the hunting trip,” Elia said getting everyone started, “The striker will be Midnight, and the others will be Moon, Star, Pine, and Abigail.” Abigail was the only first generation on the trip. Being fifty-six years young. Moon, Star and Midnight were second generations being 10 years old but their where older second generations. Pine was the only third generation being seven years old but having amazing bowman ship. Elia started off on the hunt looking towards the group and silently stepping. It was a great practise for everyone to always try to keep their steps silent so it will feel natural on hunts. This was a key part in hunting. Small and quiet steps led to good hunts. The animals could not hear or feel you. It was also to let the hunt leader hear. Elia stopped and held her hand up. She had spotted a deer. All the hunters started to circle around the deer. The deer’s ears pricked up, but the group was already around with bows pointed at there target. Everyone released. All the arrows struck the deer. Midnight them jumped out and jumped to grab the deer’s neck and forced it to the ground. The forest had very good strength but it usually came with a struggle. All the other members stood beside him as he said his thanks. “Thank you for the food you have provided,” he said and used one of his arrows to end the deer’s suffering. All the members of the group gave out a high-pitched whimper that the rest of the pack would hear. When the group entered the camp, Elia walked into Princeps cave. Noah was with her and then spotted Elia. “You can’t come in here,” they said looking sad, “Princeps has a bad fever.” “Ok,” Elia said walking out. Elia went back into the forest and Pine followed. “Are you sure you want to come with me?” Elia asks. “Yes,” she said looking towards Elia pulling out her bow. “Ok,” Elia said, “Follow me.” They went towards the tall oak. They shot arrows at the tree. Most of them hit the tree but one of Elia’s arrows shot right past Pine’s shoulder. “I felt the wind on that one,” she said. Both of them started laughing. They then went and climbed trees. Elia easily overpowered Pine as she had more experience and strength. Pine was gasping for breath at the end. “You good?” Elia asked. Looking at Pine as thought she was going to throw up. “Never better,” Pine said pulling a crooked smile. Elia heard a faint whimper through the forest. Their way of saying S.O.S. “We have to go,” Elia said jumping down from the tree swinging from branch to branch with Pine following her. Elia raced through the forest jumping over bramble bushes. “What is it,” Pine whispered clearly looking frightened. “Go back to camp,” she said to Pine not wanting Pine to see what happened. Elia continued over and saw Darius, one of the first generations laying on the ground with a hole near his shoulder. Elia checked his pulse, and he was nocked out. She slung him over her shoulder and walked to camp. This was clearly something outside of the forest because Elia had never seen anything like it before. Usually, it is a bite from one of the predators. Even snake venom but, no it was clearly a hole.
Once she got back to camp and went to Noah’s cave and gave a low growl that was really hard to perfect. Noah came in a couple seconds later. They gasped when they saw Darius unconscious on the ground. Many of the other forest people had seen Elia carrying Darius into camp. Many first generations looked at Elia with sympathy. Elia went looking for Pine as Pine was with her when she heard the distress call. She spotted Pine in a tree. “Why are you up there?” Elia asked. “Well, So I could see where you were.” “Why would you need that?” “Because I didn’t know what the sound was.” “It was a distress call from Darius.” “Why?” “Because something out there hurt him badly.” “Why isn’t he dead then?”” “Because the creature responsible didn’t end his suffering, this was done by and animal outside of the forest.” “Do you think Princeps will be ok?” “Um… I do not know.” “Do you think we should end her suffering.” “Why would you think that?... But yes, only when Noah says its ok.” “Who would do it? Like whom would do it without hesitating?” “I don’t know.” “What if they choose you?” “Then I will have to take it, I would be the next leader.” “Are you ok?” “Not really.” “Can we go hunt?” “You were on the last hunt, but I do think it would help us forest people, but we already hunted today so not again.” “You are a wise Beta Elia,” Pine said coming down from the tree. “Some might not think that” Elia said sadly. Pine laughed and hoped to the ground. “What, should we do?” Pine asked, “I’m bored.” “Everyone is bored at your age,” Elia said, “Wait till you become thirteen.” “I hope I never,” Pine said putting her hands directly her hips, “I want to be seven forever!” “I wish it could be that way Pine,” Elia said, “But you always grow up. There is not a cure for it.” “What do you do!?” “You enjoy every moment you have.” “How can you enjoy every moment you have when something is in the forest killing our elders!?” The brought down the spirit that was almost happy. “I want to make a team to find this out,” Elia said, “to stop this killing.” “That sounds like something the first generation called Superhero movies;” Pine laughed. “Yes, the only problem is that I need to ask Princeps, but Noah won’t let me in.” “Well, that’s a problem,” she said. “Well, yeah!” Elia said. “Just ask Noah to ask Princeps,” Pine asked raising an eyebrow. “Yeah, that’s smart,” Elia said, “I’ll be back.” Elia raced towards Princeps den but then stopped. How could she see Noah if they were in Princeps den. She looked back at Pine who was doubling over with laughter. Elia stormed back towards Pine. “You don’t think ahead,” Pine said gasping for breath from the amount of laughing she did. “You are so disrespectful,” Elia said shaking her head. “Who is this?” Midnight asked walking over. Midnight was the one who was too loyal. “You met Pine on our hunt?” Elia said rolling her eyes. “Oh you,” Midnight said while he looked disgusted, “Is she bothering you?” “ N-,” Elia started but was cut off. “-Yes, Pine was bothering Elia,” that was Star, one of the people watching her and Pine. “Wait-,” Elia said. “-I’ll tell Abigail since she is in charge of the punishments,” Midnight said. “What-.” “Good idea.” Elia sent out a deep growl. Everyone turned towards her. “You do not speak for your Beta. Ever,” Elia said, “that is a form of punishment.” “But Pine should get some too-,” Star started. “No ‘but’s,’ the punishment is for you,” Elia said, “for talking over your Beta and denying her request and for falsely talking for your Beta.” “Yes Elia,” Midnight and Star said backing off. Abigail appeared. “I heard it all,” she said, “Your punishment for two forms of disrespect is one you have to gather twigs for your fire, and you have to sleep outside by your fire, no help from anyone.” “Yes Abigail,” Midnight and Star started towards the forest. Elia saw that it was almost night and started off towards her den. She sat down on her deer blanket and lit her fire. She drifted off to sleep almost at once.
