Oh hello there! I’m sorry for being so inactive these past few months. I look forward to keep doing it again. Soooooooo This is fanart of Nakanaka Omoharu from Komi Can’t Communicate. Art: by Me Music: reverse Minecraft music (she likes gaming) Time: 1h 20m Program: ibisPaint Zooming code: @Colorsnatch Now Ima talk about the process Sketch Pretty straightforward, I did my usual stuff like breaking things in the shapes. Drawing things even when they’re hidden can help placing. 9 year old me didn’t think sketching necessary, but I wouldn’t be where I am now without it. Lineart I did what I usually do, like use the brush I always use (Ok maybe not always but nowadays I use it a lot) which has no line variation, except a taper at the end. Even more straightforward compared to the last one. FiNaLlY mOrE tO tALk AbOuT Skin I pretty much filled in my base color, did my usual shading which includes cell Shading around where parts cast a shadow and soft shadows around the cheeks and eyelids with the layer mode multiply. I also added hard highlights (with layer mode add) and very subtle softer highlights with the layer mode color dodge. Clothing I pretty much did Nakanaka’s usual school uniform. I added (yet again) cell and soft shading. I added the cell shading around the cape-thing (don’t ask me what it is) and softer shading around parts that would curve a little bit. Then I have my very wonky bow design I made myself (ok they have that in the anime but I drew the pattern myself) Hair One of the things I love shading, hair. I did what I normally do, which is putting a soft shadow on the bottom of the hair (the tips) and put harder edge to shadows where are light wouldn’t come in much. I added highlights with the graphite pencil brush on color dodge (I usually use add but color dodge is better for shading black hair) and shadows under the highlights with the same brush. The eye(s) Another thing I love shading, eyes. I usually apply the base color and then use the airbrush tool, to make it darker towards the top. I use the same tool on the layer mode add on the bottom. I add little dots in the eyes as well, at the end, I put one big white, highlight, a smaller yellow one (The color of the eye) and a circular one on the bottom set to color dodge. Finishing touches I add a little wash to the background, put flyaway hairs (for me it makes the hair more hair-like) and a little bit of the color of the eye set to add on the eyelashes (with layer mode normal underneath them) And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed!
