Welcome to the History series! Today we will be talking about the Ghost Division, a feared bunch of troops known for being so fast and efficient that even ghosts can't compare!
Our episode begins in World War II. At the beginning, the mechanized Panzer units are still off to a great start, but the Axis decide that's not enough. A group of brilliant and capable soldiers is created called the 7th Panzer Division. They went on to win the Battle of France and almost completely annihilate the French army, and then try and take the Soviet Union and almost succeed. Thanks to them, the Soviet had trouble recovering after. They lost a few other offensive battles, but they either held successfully or attempted to attack while they were retreating. They often left their weapons when they retreated, and that allowed the United Nations to gain an advantage. The French had given them a name, specifically La Division Fantôme, which means "Ghost Division." From then to now, they are still known as one of the most successful and fierce troops in World War II.
