Look I actually didn't procrastinate this! :3 TW: Mention of Alcohol and Violence "Scotch no!" I turned to see my ferret, Bean, running towards me, a cat the color of butterscotch chasing after him. Behind them was a lady with dark purple hair wearing black tight fitting pants and a short sleeve shirt with a chest plate. I scooped up Bean, "Who are you? And what are you doing here?" She muttered something under her breath and got up from the floor. "I was... getting my cat. C'mere Scotch!" I looked at the cat sitting at my feet. "Oh um, That's... that's a cute cat." I said, glancing back at my parents, "You've stumbled into a very... interesting situation." She looked over, a bit surprised, "What... what happened?" "Um, my Uncle Conan. He and Dad were arguing and then he did... something." She looked a bit scared, "What... what do we do?" "I... I don't know... I can't just leave her like that..." I said, hoping she would know I was talking about Anna. She tilted her head at me, "Her..?" I looked back at the statues, "My little sister, Anna. I don't know if I really care what happens to Mom and Dad but... I feel like I have to save her or something. I dunno..." She nodded, "Anna's the heir to the throne, too. So she has to be saved." She came a bit closer and Scotch leaped into her arms. I let out a sigh, "Yeah. That too." She pet the cat's head, "Silly kitty. We don't eat ferrets. What's his name, by the way?" I smiled a little bit and kissed Bean's nose, "His name is Bean, and he's my little cuddly bean." She smiled, "So cute! Oh- this is Scotch, short for Butterscotch." "That's a very fitting name. Um, I should go back to the library... I might be able to find something to fix this." I said, pulling my ferret closer to my chest. "Wait, maybe I could help! Except if I should read the books, I'm not super good at reading. But I can write some, and I'm great at searching! I love helping-" I cut her off, "No thank you, maybe you could keep company though." Her smile brightened, "Oh I would love that! I tell good stories too!" I started towards the door, "Come on, the library's this way." She followed, talking to Scotch. "What stories should we tell? This'll be so fun..." ... I looked through the titles of the books, looking for any that sounded like they could be helpful. “So, what’s your name?” I asked as I looked. “Oh! Silly me, I never introduced myself. I’m Felicia! I’m assuming your Prince Anan? Why did your parents have another child? Weren’t you supposed to be the next one in line? Do I ask too many questions? Sorry it’s a habit.” I pulled a book off the shelf, “Um, Yes that’s me. I don’t know why they had Anna… I thought Mom was infertile. And you’re fine, it’s nice to have someone to talk to.” I didn’t feel like answering that other question. She nodded, “Well, good! I like asking questions. And answers. Answers are very important, too. An answer can speak a lot more truth than the person.” She said, sounding perceptive. I chuckled nervously, “Interesting take, I uh, was the heir to the throne but my parents named Anna the heir. And they’ve decided she was more important. They don’t even notice when I’m not at the table anymore.” I mumbled that last sentence. Scotch climbed onto her back and laid across her like a scarf. She petted her, “Hm… That’s sad. But you love your sister, don’t you? But I think you're also jealous. Right? And I think you feel the need to protect her. Oh! I can write about this!” I paused before responding, “Y-Yeah, love her. But please don’t write about this, I would really like to be able to have some private thoughts…” I wasn’t jealous. At least I kept telling myself that. Maybe I was, but I can lie to myself if I want to. She smiled, “Oh, I won’t. Only because you don’t want me to, I’m very loyal. And trustworthy. My mum says I’m too trustworthy, and that I’ll get myself k!lled one day. She said that the day she was killed. And now my dad works in a pub, and he always comes home drunk. So I don’t listen to him, and he barely talks to me. But I have Scotch! My dad thinks Scotch is a wolf.” She gave a little laugh. “Oh, I’m sorry about your mom.” I said, flipping through another book. She shrugs, “My mum was barely home when she lived, and she hated cats. She threw an empty beer bottle at her once…” That didn’t sound like a very nice household to grow up in. “Oh… this seems helpful…” I plopped down in a nearby chair with the book to read more about it. Felicia came closer, “Oh..? What’s it ‘bout? Did you find anything yet? What if we need something rare? Oh, we could go on an adventure! Adventures are very good to write about! Did you find anything?” “I uh, it’s like this magic water, I think it could turn them back. I don’t know where it is yet but I might end up on an adventure.” I said. She squealed, “Oh, I love adventures! There’s so much that could happen! Someone could die and someone could be eaten by an animal-”
What. “I- Um- I didn’t know you were gonna come with me- WaitaminuteIcoulddieohno-” She giggled, “We could all die! Oh- what would we eat? We could get sick from the water..! And what would we feed Scotch and Bean? Won’t the animals come after our food? What about our clothes- they could get so dirty and-” I interrupted her, “Look I dunno, I’m only 16! I’ve never gone on an adventure before!” She tilted her head, “Huh. Oh, please tell me you’ve been out of the palace before! I’ve read a book about a prince who wasn’t allowed out. Or was it a princess? I’m not good at reading. But there was a dragon or something stopping him from leaving.” She gasped, “Do you have a pet dragon?!” I sighed, “Yes I’ve been out of the palace before. Sadly Bean is the only pet I have.” “Aww no dragon?” She asked, disappointed. “No dragon.” I said, trying to sound sad. She nodded solemnly, “No dragon. Oh, but there is Bean! And Scotch! I have a feeling Scotch and Bean will be best friends!” She gasped, “Oh! You can be my friend! I've never had a friend before. People say I talk too much. Dad says it’s better to be seen, not heard. But we could be friends! I’m great at telling stories, it’ll be so fun! And I’ll get to visit the castle, once your parents are better, of course. And the heir. Is. Safe.” She declares. “Friend..? I haven’t had a friend before either, that’d be… nice. I was never really around kids my age, I was either learning about being a king or off reading in the library. Not that most of that matters anymore.” I replied, giving her a small smile. “Then it’s settled! Oh, this’ll be so exciting, two friends off on an exciting adventure!” Scotch meowed, “Oh, sorry Scotch. Four friends!” She exclaimed, grinning. “Yeah, four friends.”
