just a prototype of a T-80 model, intended to be a second more advanced variant of the already existing T-80BVM.
i think the T-80BVM is a solid and effective tank if used correctly. unfortunately for the russian forces in ukraine, the T-80BVM has taken steady losses to mostly hand held anti tank weapons, but this is due to having little to no infantry support, and poor armor placement. if russia used the T-80 correctly, it would be much more effective on the battlefield. i believe that US m1 abrams in ukraine will also preform very poorly against russian handheld AT weapons. tanks are becoming more of a defensive weapon, there is no way to tell how well western tanks will do in ukraine, but since ALL tanks are vulnerable to top-down attack AT weapons i think the abrams is going to do just as poor as russian tanks are doing in ukraine now. in my Theoretical design, i have incorporated blowout panels and an ammo rack carousel that is CLOSED OFF from the crew, to prevent a catastrophic ammo detonation if the tank is to be hit from the side or lower front plate. the blowout panels are located next to the tracks, and will blow off when the tanks ammo is detonated and release pressure so the crew has time to escape the burning tank in opposed to the turret blowing off (also due to the fact that the ammo is stored in a CLOSED compartment below where the crew sits , which only opens briefly when the gun is loading its next shell into the chamber). im sure adding blowout panels to the T-80BVM would require a complete re design of the tank, but its definitely possible, and it would probably make the T-80BVM on par with tanks like the leopard 2A6 or M1A2 abrams. as for other smaller improvements, this tank would be fitted with an improved hypothetical Relikt-2 ERA (Explosive Reactive Armor, typically effective for protecting a tank against chemical rounds, but can also slow down kinetic rounds by a small margin) if this design is ever made, i'm sure someone on war thunder forums will leak classified documents on this vehicle maybe its already happened ;)
