The smooth, impossibly round pebbles slid between my bare toes. The water around my feet seemed to stretch on infinitely, just a rippling grey reflection of the sky. Nobody else was here. Ripples of calm and uncanny cascaded down my spine. My view flitted across the horizon, ears pricked for any audible sound above the soft sloshing of water against my calves. A dark figure stood in my peripheral vision. It's not there as I turn violently around, heart slamming against my ribcage. It appeared again. Dark, humanoid, facing me. I dared not look away, I considered heading towards them, instead, my voice cracked out a quiet "Hello?-" The figure shifted, hunched, warped by my perspective. Panic flooded my body. It sloshed quickly through the water without a sound. Before I could think, I ran, the dark form still flitting across my vision. My legs struggled to push through the thick water, the once relaxing pebbles jabbing into the soles of my feet. The liquid around my almost darkened, feeling as if it was getting thick each rattling beat of my heart. BAM. The knee deep sea descended instantly into infinite darkness. BAM. The cool water slammed against my face. BAM. The figure was beside me, still lurking between visible and non-existence, still making my stomach twitch with indescribable feelings. Any remaining light that filtered through the water was gone. My vision blackened with panic. The figure was outlined by the dull light, the depths below too dark to comprehend- Then my world reset.
