Oakley (Brown and striped one) is actually me and Crystal’s kitten. Shadow is for Sunny. I had told Sunny about Oakley and how she passed away. So, I asked her who was her favorite gassed on animal and she said Shadow. I drew them as StarClan kitties and I wanted to give Oakley a warrior name in honor of her being the bravest cat I have ever seen. Sometimes, grief feels like jaws tightly biting your heart. Or a large rock plummeting down into your belly. But as time goes on, you feel the sharp pain ease and you feel better after the sad loss. You might think if you had a kitten for two days and you had to let go of it, you wouldn’t be that sad right? Well I had Oakley for two days. She went through so much pain and suffering, too much for a small creature. Soon infection that was in her paws went into her joints and veins. One day my mom woke up and saw her laying there, her mouth wide open and she was barely breathing. We took her to the vet, bu I knew she wouldn’t survive. No matter how much I mentally prepared myself for my mom coming back saying the vet couldn’t do anything, I still cried and cried and cried. Just writing this is making me tear up. I know she’s in a better place now, with no suffering of pain. Thanks to Sunny for understanding.
My little story for Oakley: As Crystalstar jumped on to High Rock, Oakpaw knew what was happening. “All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath High Rock!” She yowled. Soon enough, the Clan settled beneath the large rock. Crystalstar looked directly at Oakpaw. The apprentice wished her sisters and mother were here to see her grow up, but they weren’t and she was okay with that now. “Oakpaw, come forward.” The leader boomed. Oakpaw struggled to not back down. She didn’t . “Oakpaw from this moment on, I name you Oakflight for your agility and courage. You’ve suffered a great deal, but still stand here today.” Crystalstar smiled and touched noses with the newly named warrior.
