May 4th edit: ACCIDENTALLY UNSHARED OOPS ITS REUPLOADED :,D Hey how did you get here Scratch makes this really pixelated so full screen makes for the best experience. Press the right arrow key to go to the next costume and view the process that took me a long time for some reason May 6th EDIT: I forgot to mention the backstory behind this! I had art block a few months ago, but I’d seen the challenge where you take a random word generator and generate three words to inspire your drawing. I’d already done plenty of Zelda fanart before, but I didn’t even have it in mind for this — I was just gonna draw something random based off of whatever it gave me. Then the word generator I used gave me “tough, broken, and wild.” So of course, my obsession-filled, unfiltered mind was like, “this reminds me of a certain someone…. Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today!” PROCESS EXPLAINED: 1st Step: Base geometric anatomy. I make a 3D model to reference this, sometimes I trace it depending on how hard it is, as I’m still learning anatomy and dynamic poses. 2nd Step: Line art. Idk why I saved the second step as lineart and not a sketch for this but I made this piece a while ago 3rd Step: Base coloring. This is just to get an idea of what I want — I won’t detail or shade until later. 4th Step: Basic shading. Adding in my regular skin details, hair details, and simple shading. 5th Step: Rendering, effects, and final product! My favorite step personally. I add shading, lighting, and a bunch of cool effects using layer modes such as Multiply, Pin Light, Overlay, Linear Light, etc., depending on what the situation calls for.
[insert epic sax fanfare here] I made this piece back in January. It was a lot of fun to make! I’ve been hyped for Tears of the Kingdom since I got into Breath of the Wild last April or so. BotW was my first Zelda game and I’ve loved the series ever since. Please feel free to leave constructive criticism or feedback in the comments — but nothing rude or negative.
