(yes I changed my desc layout this is way more easier to type out) and this will be a 3 part series. First will will be a rlly darker and heavier and part two will be like medium and part 3 will be abt dating, hate and trends in the K-pop industry. THE KPOP INDUSTRY let’s talk abt the whole kpop industry, the racism, cultural appropriation, contract, beauty standards and double standards. In part one we’ll do racism and cultural appropriation, part two will be the contracts and beauty standards and part three will be double standards and trends. Racism and Cultural Appropriation oh boy…. this topic is gonna be massive like srsly this took up most of my time! Butt now we’re in this let’s just go.. why don’t companies try to have a class during trainee days to educate the trainees abt racism, cultural appropriation, different races, cultural differences and so many more. I mean if they can do sh1t like taking a selfie class, like I’m not joking, IVE srsly had this class… like?! Not surprised tho.. Also they shld have staff from different cultures as well so they have an idea what ok and whats not . Now let’s go into one of my least favourite examples.. 1. G-Idle Dude… the number times this group does cultural appropriation is so funny (not). Incident One : The first is the ‘ethnic hip’ for one of their songs (idk why) https://www.google.com/search?q=gidle%20ethnic%20hip&tbm=vid pls watch this video to understand. Now if u don’t see what’s wrong lemme clear it all. Using a generalised term of ‘ethnic hip’ is not ok at all, there r many many different tribes and cultures there r in African, Indian and many more cultures. And the way their acting it’s like revolutionary and never done before, ur acting like it’s never done before which maybe yes bcoz it’s soo inaccurate they didn’t take inspiration from any culture and just pulled some sheet from their @ss. Very disappointed and they didn’t even apologise! Incident Two : Henna appropriation in LATATA soooo let’s begin, I read a Reddit post saying that the henna tattoo in the latata mv was from middle eastern and I kinda don’t agree lemme explain, henna is used in both Indian and middle eastern culture to welcome marriage but the context is different, so in middle east it’s seen in the Bronze Age and in india it was seen different. And seeing there is sooo much history behind it seeing it being destroyed by gidle in a mv is disappointing like srsly. So there r many more but these two incidents took me 2 whole weeks to just get this info plus my own life, so now I’ll be moving on to other groups and examples… whoo this is longg. The Curry Song (By Norazo) : (pls cue the oh god no meme by the office here) Dude I legit can go on but imma keep it a buck here and kinda keep it medium to short. So the song also has a lyric that says ‘and although it doesn’t smell nice, TAJ MAHAL’ dude ok first off wt- do two grown Korean men who know nothing abt indian culture and have never had curry ever and did zero frickin research abt Indian culture! Like they just half this song! Next! They use ‘shanti’ and ‘namaste’ so out of context! Like it’s so random, they did no research abt what these words mean! Example - ‘ Add onions and potatoes but not beef, NAMASTE‘ Example 2 - ‘ SHANTI SHANTI Curry, It’s Curry (JOA)’ Example 3 - ‘ SHANTI SHANTI Yoga Fire (JOA)’ Dude no research, just bcoz yoga is famous here it has nothing related to do with ‘shanti’ And for some reason they kept saying Indian Cider?? We don’t have any ciders here tho? Like again! They pulled smthn random sheet out their ! Pls next time research!!
