While I technically didn’t have to finish this game before summer, I feel like I would be much less motivated to finish it if i pushed it off ‘til mid summer, so i told myself that i wanted to finish the game before school went out. That also meant that because I started the game on May 1st, and my last day of school is June 1st, that meant that I had around 20 school days to finish the entire game :| This game is a heavy departure from my previous games. It is a semi non-linear top down action game where if you die, you go back to the very beginning. One thing that bothered me about my previous games is that they felt way too linear. They were strictly sectioned off into separate levels. The thing I like about this game, is that there aren’t really any defined levels, because it’s all one world. It makes it feel a lot more open. I also tried my hand at having puzzles and exploration in this game, which is something that I also usually don’t do. While the puzzles aren’t super hard, i still think they’re fun. Also it isn’t a platformer, it’s a top-down game, which makes for a drastically different gameplay experience. For the past year and a half (ever since Red World Parkour 1), every game that i’ve made was built on top of the previous game. This, however, is the first time since then that I’ve made a game completely from scratch. This game is not built on top of any of my previous games, which definitely offered me a lot more freedom, as i could make something that wasn’t a side-view 2D platformer. Overall, this game is a refreshing change of pace from my previous games, and it also isn’t a sequel :D. I would love to make another game like this, while also having a less strict deadline, so I can get more of my ideas out and have time to make them good. Sequel????
