(WARNING: Minor spoilers for Warrior Cats and Wings of Fire!!!) So, all us warrior fans know about this problem right? I wanted to talk about it. I know that if you trace back the family lines almost everyone will be connected in some way by family. But we have to remember that there's only so far you can go where they're family to the point where it's not ok to marry (or in this case become mates) with them. I feel like it's going a bit far if you know what I mean. I've done a lot of research so I can approach this view the best I can, with as much accurate information as I can. I would also like it if you guys also remember that laws about this kind of stuff may be different in other places. What is allowed where I am may be different then where you are. It also may be different depending on your religion and mine may be different then yours. Saying that I will start making my point. If your cousin's cousin does not share the same bloodline as you you are technically allowed to marry as you are not related by blood and it's by marriage or something. Let alone anyone beyond that. While I do not ship Ivypool x Hawkfrost (anymore I had a /weird/ phase) they could technically be together in a healthy relationship. (If some personality were different ofc) like it's not even close to being by blood and they only reason anyone can say something like that is cuz her mother is Whitewing, whose father is Cloudtail, whose, uncle is Firestar, whose child is Squirrelflight, whose mate is Brambleclaw, whose half-brother is Hawkfrost. They are not closely related in any way and no where near related by blood. In those perspectives they make a couple where you can't use "but they're related" as an excuse for someone not to ship them. Not that they wouldn't be toxic anyways and there's still lots of reasons to not ship it but that's just not a good one. There are a lot of cases where people take it way farther then that saying that they can't be together cuz they're related even tho it's through like ten different marriages. You're just not really related at that point and it would be ok to get together. Might it be a bit weird when getting deep into thought at times? Yes. But it's still legal and not bad at that point. It's also ok to marry your sibling-in-law's sibling, as once again, you are not related by blood. I'm not sure how many people think otherwise but I saw someone mention it and thought I would bring it up. My point is not every "related" Warriors couple is related in a way where it's not ok to be together. Not saying there's not any at all cuz there 100% is Ashfur being Squirrelflight's uncle and Snowbush and Lilyheart being first cousins. (Tho apparently that is also legal in some places but even if that is legal I agree that it's to close for marriage.) As said it's not always that bad. And for some of these ships where people are saying that the characters are related, you have to keep in mind we all share common ancestors. (At least from my religion.) I mean if you've read WoF you'll see that like all the HiveWings and SilkWings are related to Clearsight in some way cuz that was like a forever ago. Anyways, I hope that made sense. I know some of you may disagree and I have given my honest opinion, and backed it up with facts. Thank you for reading this all the way through. ~ Aspen :)
