Chapter Two Blackout I kept on running when he fell, I was scared out of my mind and didn't know what to do. I ran around the whole track again, almost tripping on the reins multiple times, but when I finally came to the place where I thought he fell, he wasn't there! I kept on searching and searching and searching, but I couldn't find him anywhere. I made up my mind that he must've gone back to the barn already, I couldn't accept the alternative. When I reached the barn, I was greeted by one of the grooms. “Hi Blackout,” he cooed, offering the delicacy of a carrot. Then he looked puzzled for a moment, and glanced behind me, suddenly looking worried. “Where's Max, boy?” The question stung my heart. I really did wish I could have answered that question, but I didn't know. I tried giving him signs to follow me, rearing, trotting back and forth, nudging him and pulling his pant leg. It took a while, but I finally led him to the track. He looked around for a minute, then shook his head, and said, “Really boy? This is serious, I'm heading back to the barn to search more.” He paused, then mumbled to himself, “I can't believe I'm talking to a horse, my ex was right, I really have gone crazy.” And then he walked away, leading me by the bridle back to the barn, but I wasn't about to let him without a fight. I reared up to try to stop him, but he just yanked me down, and hauled me back to the barn. He put me in my stall, the one with the high door and rusty iron bars to make sure I didn't jump the fence and go to the track. He walked away to go look for Max, but I know it's no use. A day later, I overheard the grooms talking, “I don't know Sam! I just don't know! He's gone, I searched every square inch of the whole town, he's nowhere!” “The police are looking, there's a whole search party, but no one has seen him. It's like he just disappeared!” They're right, he's gone, gone for good.
Next Wednesday i'll add another!
