FADE IN: EXT. HIVE - DAY A group of bees are working hard in the hive. One bee, BARRY BENSON (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld), feels like there is more to life than just making honey. BARRY (to himself) I've got to break free from the hive and see the world. Just then, Barry's best friend, ADAM FLAYMAN (voiced by Matthew Broderick), flies up to him. ADAM Hey Barry, you going to the funeral? BARRY (to Adam) No, I'm not going to the funeral. Everybody knows you sting someone, you die, you don't waste it on a squirrel. He was such a hot head. Adam laughs. BARRY I guess he could have just gotten out of the way. The bees continue to work as Barry and Adam fly outside the hive. ADAM I love this incorporating the amusement park into our day. BARRY (to Adam) That's why we don't need vacations. Suddenly, Barry and Adam see a tennis ball that has been hit into their path. BARRY (to Adam) Boy, quite a bit of pomp under the circumstances. Adam points out that the tennis player is about to smash the ball. ADAM (to Barry) Well, Adam, today we are men. BARRY (to Adam) We are. The tennis ball hits the net and falls onto the ground. The tennis player picks it up and prepares to serve again. BARRY (to tennis player) Bee-autiful. The tennis player gets stung by Barry and drops the ball. BARRY (to Adam) You know, I'm just about to go watch the sunset. It's a beautiful time of day. Adam agrees to come with him. CUT TO: EXT. ROOFTOP - DAY Barry and Adam sit on a rooftop, watching the sunset. BARRY (to Adam) You know, bees have never been afraid to change the world. Adam reminds Barry about the time they stopped a mosquito from sucking a man's blood. ADAM (to Barry) I love this bee is ready for anything you throw at him. Just then, a woman named VANESSA BLOOME (voiced by Renee Zellweger) appears on the rooftop. VANESSA (to Barry) Hi, I'm Vanessa. Barry is taken aback by Vanessa's beauty. BARRY (to Vanessa) I'm Barry. Vanessa offers to help Barry get back to the hive, but as they fly back, Barry discovers Vanessa has been breaking one of the cardinal rules of the human world: she's been talking to humans about bees. BARRY (to Vanessa) Wait a minute, I've got to see this. They hide in a grocery store, where Barry is shocked to see humans taking all the honey from the bees and replacing it with artificial honey. BARRY (to Vanessa) This is stealing. A lot of people depend on bees for pollination. Vanessa tells Barry that humans have been doing this for centuries, but Barry is not satisfied. BARRY (to Vanessa) This is an outrage. I'm going to sue the human race. Vanessa agrees to help Barry, and they team up with a team of lawyers to take the human race to court. CUT TO: INT. COURTHOUSE - DAY Barry and Vanessa stand before the judge, arguing their case. BARRY (to the judge) We have a terrific case. The judge agrees to hear the case, and Barry and Vanessa present their evidence. The jury finds in favor of the bees, and all the honey is returned to the bees. CUT TO: EXT. HIVE - DAY The bees celebrate their victory, and Barry and Vanessa fly off into the sunset, starting a new chapter in the relationship between bees and humans. FADE OUT.
