Story here: “C’mon, Ei!” Katsuki tugged on my hand, smiling brightly. “I don’t wanna miss the fireworks!” It may have been late at night, but his smile was enough to light up the night. Eijiro laughed, hurrying after him as he sprinted towards the hill where they’d always watched the semi-annual fireworks. “No! They’re starting!” The brightly coloured bursts of light appeared above them, making snapping and exploding noises. Katsuki shrugged and laughed. “C’mon! If we run, we can make the end of it on the hill!” They ran as fast as they could to the top, Eijiro staring down at the city below them and Katsuki watching the sky in awe. “Ei, look!” Eijiro’s head shot up as Katsuki pointed to the sky. “That one’s orange! My favorite colour!” Katsuki may have been sixteen, but he sure acted like a five year old when it came to fireworks. Eijiro giggled and wrapped his arm around Katsuki’s shoulders, pulling him close in a side hug. Katsuki’s eyes shone as he looked up to the sky. Eijiro followed his gaze up to the stars. He felt Katsuki move even closer to him, and smiled softly. “Perfect night, with the perfect person.” He murmured, looking at the blonde boy beside him. Katsuki’s face went slightly pinker. Eijiro k!$$ed the top of his head. “I l0v3 you, Ei.” --- What he would’ve given to have that moment one more time. But the world just couldn’t be that perfect. Everything had moved much too fast for his liking. The hero mission, Katsuki leaving... Katsuki never coming back. The thought made him sick. It had only been a month since Katsuki had d!ed on a hero mission with Endeavor and a few other heroes. He hadn’t forgiven anyone on that mission with Katsuki, and he couldn’t help but blame his late b0yfriend’s de@th on them. He was probably the most broken up over the shocking disaster- Izuku, too, had been heartbroken, but not in the way Eijiro had been. And Mitsuki and Masaru were also in much pain, but Eijiro felt it more. He’d been the one by Katsuki’s side this entire time, helping him train, bringing him places, giving him everything he could ever need. Thinking about it now was painful. He remembered the sunshine smile on Katsuki’s face, the giggle that would always escape when he k!$$ed him. He was supposed to be in class then, but he couldn’t get up the courage to keep training to be a hero when his number one hero wouldn’t be there with him. He felt tears begin to form in his eyes. He glanced to the left, his gaze landing on a fractured picture of Katsuki. When he’d learned that Katsuki wouldn’t be returning, he’d raged, destroying pretty much his entire room. It was the only picture of Katsuki that he hadn’t totally demolished in his fit of rage and grief. The glass was slightly cracked, and the picture was a bit ripped. It was a photo of Katsuki at the last firework show they’d gone to. He was staring into the camera, smiling his ever special smile, blushing softly. He had memories, of course, but this was the only clear picture of his face anymore. He knew he’d never forget Katsuki’s face. But if he did, he made sure to save that one picture. Just in case. “Katsuki...” he murmured, standing up from his bed. “You wouldn’t want me to be so upset over all this, would you. You’d smile and tell me that I should cheer up a bit, then take me to a few shops in town and let me buy anything I liked...” he felt tears start to roll down his cheeks as he reached towards the picture. His hands were shaking.
(Continued here) “I’m so sorry...” looking into Katsuki’s bright face, he knew he couldn't cry over this anymore... but couldn’t help it. The tears just came. He sank down onto his bed, holding the picture and sobbing quietly. Mitsuki and Masaru had pretty well gotten over it- they talked about him happily now. But he just couldn’t do it. He hadn’t spoken to anyone since Katsuki had gone. He’d gotten millions of texts from the rest of the class, asking if he was okay and if they would see him that night at dinner or that morning during classes, or asking if he wanted to join them in a small event, like going downtown. He just never replied. There was too much going through his head, and he didn’t want to put it on anyone else. Just then, he got another text- but this wasn’t from the class. It was from Mitsuki, reading, ‘Hey, Ei, honey. You wanna come get some of Katsuki’s things? There’s some stuff he wanted to give you.’ He wanted to ignore the text, to go back to sleep. But to talk to someone else who had felt his pain in almost the same amount... to see the two adults who’d been like his parents? He sighed heavily and texted her back, a simple ‘okay’. It was going to be hard to leave his room. But he stood up, set the picture back on the bedside table, then set off to escape UA without anyone seeing. He slipped down the hallway, flipping up the hood on his sweater, hoping no one would notice him. He stuck close to the wall, trying to be as small as possible. After about ten minutes of sliding against the wall like a secret agent, he was outside. Fresh air was like a new experience for him- not one he really cared about experiencing again. The walk to the Bakugo’s house was quick. He pretty much sprinted it, not wanting to be out of his dorm for any longer than he had to. When he arrived, Mitsuki wrapped him in a tight hug, rubbing his back. “How’re you doing, honey?” She asked softly. Eijiro shrugged, not sure what to say. “Well, let me give you the things I found. There was a few objects that were labeled ‘for Ei’and I thought you’d like to have them.” She guided him inside. “Make yourself at home, dear. I’ll go grab the things, okay?” Eijiro nodded, feeling sick as he sat down on the couch. It had been so long since he’d been here. The last time was on the d@te Katsuki had brought him on a day before leaving... and only three days before he d!ed. Mitsuki came down the stairs carrying a box. She glanced up at Eijiro with a worried look on her face. “Are you okay? You look sick.” He swallowed and blinked back tears. “Fine...” he mumbled. “You don’t talk much anymore, do you?” She sat beside him, handing over the box. “These are for you.” He nodded weakly. “And hon?” He glanced up at her. “He l0v3d you so much, you don’t even know. He’d come back everyday, talking endlessly about you with this dreamy look on his face-” “Please stop.” He choked out. “I don’t... I'm so sorry, miss Mitsuki...” “Hey, don’t be sorry. It’s all good. I should’ve paid attention to who I was talking to.” She squeezed his shoulder, smiling sadly. “Why don’t you head back to UA? Your friends have been texting me asking if you’re over here. They’re worried about you.” He shook his head. “I can’t face them again.” His voice cracked, and he felt tears begin to streak down his face. “I can hardly keep it together...” Mitsuki hugged him, tracing circles on his back. “Why don’t you come here every few afternoons? I’m open to talking to you and helping you. Does that sound good?” He nodded weakly. “I’ll be going then...” he picked up the box. “Thank you.” She smiled softly at him as he bowed. He turned and began to leave, but he couldn’t help but want to stay. “Katsuki...” he murmured as he left the house. His gaze shifted to the clouds. “You l0v3d fireworks.” And that planted an idea in his head. END OF CHAPTER ONE Art isn’t mine. Hope you guys enjoy!
