I started this piece awhile back so my styles not exactly the same but my process is for how I'd approach this now. I don't always do things exactly like this btw. I just do what works and this is what worked in the moment. Also these characters are usually portrayed as cats if you've seen them before. I have human designs for them too! This is my first time coloring said designs though, so they're very much subject to change. Anyway I hope this was helpful. Remember to there are no rules to art! Your process is your process and you can mess around with it as much as you want. I just hate seeing people putting rules on things like this when it's inherently a creative process. Sorry for the mini rant but yeah.
