Watch in the evening and listen by the dawn Speak in the darkness and contemplate it all If you can’t see the shadows then slowly lift your arm Peer closely up and wonder what it is you’re looking for When your fingertips are fuzzy and the world is dark and grey And the moon’s just out of reach and it ignores your plea to stay When the stillness of the breeze betrays the muddle of your thoughts Which cannot be understood ‘cause they’re half English and half God Then you take a look and wonder And you take a look and stare And you take a look and wonder who it is beneath the glare Of the sun and all its beauty yet you cannot see a thing When the world is distant darkness but you’re standing in the middle where the birds still sing and squabble and the air is thick with spring You drift along a stone-paved path and try to breathe it in but your mind simply won’t listen and you’ve lost yourself again And though you can’t imagine and see static in the mirror Though the distance turns to paper bending fragile and unreal Through the dim and through the dying through the shadows and the shine You will find what you once lost and then you will be set right
haha so basically we were tasked to take inspiration from the poem "Shake the Dust" by Anis Mojgani (which is pretty good by the way i recommend you give it a read!) (that's where the 5th and 6th line of the 2nd stanza come from- we were meant to either directly take a line from his poem or adapt it for ourselves and i did a little of both!! :,D) hwehehee my brain is so goofy :,3
