It's just a minor annoyance. You can beat the game as a more traditional platformer this way. Don't press anything for normal mode. It's a real threat, but certainly avoidable. Keep an eye on the Red Hot and strategize your movement a bit. Press [Q] for impossible mode. You're no longer moving when you want to. Quickly and precisely move when it does.
