Morning’flower clasped her jaw around Leaf’pup’s scruff, as she walked out of the camp tears streaming down her eyes. The pup squirmed in her jaws but Morning’flower kept a firm grip. A mouse passed here and there, the forest was quite calm at night. It seemed too quiet tonight. Trotting through the forest in a smooth rhythm in the night, onlookers staring. Morning’flower stopped in a clearing to rest. Sunpack’s border just ahead. Dropping the pup she left in search of food and returned to see her pup fast asleep. Morning’flower nibbled on her mouse. Suddenly the cricket stopped chirping. The silence was too loud. Morning’flower swiftly stood up, hair raised, she sensed a threat. Backing up to pick up Leaf’pup, a bush rustled. A thin dark leopard slipped out of the bushes. “Get away!,” she spat. “Ah, you don’t get it. I’m not here for you,” he gestured at her,”I’m here for God’speed’s cub.,” he explained casually like he’d recited this a million times while tracking them down.”How do you know?!,” Morning’flower said shakily. “Apolo’mass let something slip obviously.,” he said, stepping forward. Morning’flower lunged, the leopard doged. Morning’flower noticed her mistake too soon. The leopard grabbed the pup and dashed off. Morning’flower chased after him. As they neared the stream the leopard moved closer.
The current was strong here, Morning’flower realized. “Give. Her. Back.,” she said through pants. “Alright.,” the leopard attempted say. The pup sploshed into the water and, drifted away with the current. The leopard gained speed and ran away as Morning’flower skidded to a halt. Mud spraying in all directions. She jumped into the icy water swimming with the current. Every once in a while the pup’s head bobbed over the surface. Until Morning’flower lost her. Sploshing out of the river she smelled a Lightpack patrol. “Help!,” she yelped at where ever the patrol was. A scramble of foot steps and two warriors and on apprentice made their way towards her. “Help it's my kit! She’s been thrown in the water!,” “There’s nothing we can do I’m sorry.,” one of them said. “Let’s bring you back to camo and you can tell us your story.,” the wolf continued. She nodded and folwed them.
