Orca was smart okay? She knew that her Animus Magic would be seen as a tool by Blister, that her Mother would expect her to use it to help her tribe. She also knew what that sort of Magic, that sort of Power, did to the Dragons that wielded it. A single word wrong could cause catastrophe for hundreds of innocent Dragons. Orca would not be a weapon for others to wield. Even if that meant faking a challenge against her Mother in order to fake her own death. She made her home on one of the small uninhabited islands, using her Magic to hide. She let her favorite brother Fin know that she was still alive, and he often came to visit while on his 'mapping expeditions' He brought her treats from the palace that she couldn't make herself, and kept her updated on news. Some sort of curse was killing their Mother's Heirs, which was worrisome, though Orca seemed to be far enough away that it didn't seem to affect her. She made a few things with Magic to help her. Though even her truth telling mirror couldn't give her all the answers. She spent most of her time studying the ancient texts. The ones that predated even Albatross and Darkstalker. The old legends now long forgotten that told of a different type of Animus. Tsunami was a surprise, and a validation of a theory Orca had had for a long time. When the Talons of Peace stole her sisters egg, Orca watched from afar with Magic. Her sister hatched and lived, confirming that the Curse, if it even was that, was confined to the Palace. Orca left her little sister with the Talons for now. it was probably safer there, and slightly better suited for a growing Dragonet than a deserted island. Anemone was a surprise in a different way. Another Animus in the family so soon? Another Animus Princess no less? Surprises led to more surprises. Orca discovered that Anemones powers were not natural, and the source was none other than one of her brothers. Turtle. He was untrained and nervous, a miscalculation of his power had led to the deaths of more eggs and the event had badly damaged his self esteem. He needed a mentor, and Orca was getting lonely. It took a simple, easy spell to transport him to the island. It took a lot of long complicated conversations and Fin coming to vouch for her, to get him to trust her. But trust her he did. And soon Orca was teaching everything she knew to her little brother. It was... nice. to not be alone anymore. to have someone who understood. She had missed her family.
